Re: QPR Trivia
That was one of the first games I attended without my Dad, who used to take me a long once or twice a year as a nipper... I took a mate with me and on the train up to London we where deciding which game to go to; he was a Gooner... I persuaded him to check out the glorious plastic pitch and I think he enjoyed it. Afterwards he was a bit pissed with me when we heard that the Arsenal also won 4-0 on that day...

Re: QPR Trivia
Roger and Ian Morgan..? I guess you could say the match they played on opposing sides was Spuds v QPR (Roger for the Spuds and Ian for us)

Re: QPR Trivia
I was wondering if this was going to be Terry Venables who was a great penalty taker and I seem to remember scored something like 32 on the trot but then missed one and refused to take another!Esox Lucius wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 10:39 amCorrect!QPR_John wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:56 pmJim LangleyEsox Lucius wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:53 pmWhich regular penalty taker for us never missed one in the hoops, but missed one for England?
Jim Langley was a great defender but incredibly bow legged - don't know if that was from the way he stood when an attacker was running at him or not?
This time we'll get it right - just believe!

Re: QPR Trivia
The only brothers I can remember were the Morgans and the Brady brothers. I think both must have played alongside one another, so I'm stumped. Hang on - the Springett brothers ? They would not have played in the same side as they were both goalies !BiscuitRanger wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 9:23 amDon't know this one.... perhaps another from a long time back? 70's or earlier?

You may well be right had not thought of them. The clue is in the question as they say222gers wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 4:22 pmThe only brothers I can remember were the Morgans and the Brady brothers. Re: QPR Trivia
Well done that man! The Springetts it was. In fact they were part of the same deal , Peter to Sheff Wed and Ron to us so they were never at the club together. Played in the Sheff Wed Vs QPR game in Dec 1968. We lost 4-0.QPR_John wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 5:59 pmYou may well be right had not thought of them. Re: QPR Trivia
As a lad, I could have named every score, every scorer, the opposition, when the goals were scored, who was on the bench etc etc
These days I can't even remember who our last game was against !!!

Re: QPR Trivia
ah Ron Springett - should have got that as dates back to when I started supporting the R's and saw his brother move out and he came back, to the excitement of my two uncles, Stan and Dennis.
Sadly it seemed a bad move for Ron as I just saw what I was assured was a great goalie go into rapid decline.
I remember a game played at White City where I was standing at the front behind the goal (so it seemed miles away) and someone had a shot from distance. Ron confidently held up his hand to indicate it was OK as it would go wide...
My young self (9) watched unbelieving as it sailed inside the post so now I always have a modicum of sympathy for players who say they want to retire at the top.

Re: QPR Trivia
Who were our opponents in a game where we had no shots on target but won 1-0? Bonus for the goal scorers name.
