Defence v Bristol ✅

Post by 222gers » Sun Nov 05, 2023 10:12 pm

Defence pretty much picks itself at the moment:

Begs
Cannon
Cook
Dunne
Paal

Not so the rest with no Chair, only Field a must-have.

What do we think ?

Not convinced by Dunne, always worry he'll do something silly. I might be tempted to replace with Kakay.

I also think Dixon-Bonner is a must in midfield.

How long is Foxy out for?

I think both Foxy and JCS are about a month away. Didn't Marti say that JCS will be back on the grass during the international break.

I am not convinced by Dunne either, the ball sails over his head too many times. Kakay is great but prone to errors aa well so I would stick with Dunne until JCS gives us a few games.

Dunne wanting to argue with the ref over every decision is embarrassing. Especially, when it's a 100% slam dunk decision.

Also, no professional referee ever changed his mind because a player shouted at him pleading his innocence. When he's doing that he's not thinking about the game or getting ready to defend the free kick.

His sending off at WBA was a good example of the Jimmy Dunne failings. He's a professional footballer who has played at an elite level. Getting booked for coming on without permission is schoolboy stuff. His second booking according to Ainsworth was for tampering with the penalty spot. TV didn't show him doing that and if that was correct, I would have expected the ref to inspect the spot before the kick - he didn't. So, I can only conclude it was for something he said. That was a stone wall pen from Paal. Took the man, well inside the area, and got nowhere near the ball.

Jimmy shut the F*** up, and do your job.

I think it’s a big ask for Kakay to play in a centre back pairing rather than a 3. I’m hoping playing alongside Cook he’ll settle down a bit.

MC needs to crack down on the discipline all around. We can’t afford to keep losing vital players for key games.

As for EDB I thought he did a decent job but I still think you’d want Colback in there ahead of him for now.
