Hmm…..you seem a bit unsure.BiscuitRanger wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 10:42 pmI have zero substantive knowledge to support what I'm about to say about our new manager however;
He looks uber professional
He likely will command immediate dressing room respect
He has great tactical awareness
He will extract every ounce of ability from our players who in turn will love playing for him
He will handle the press in a manner we have yet seen at LR
We will have a new manager bounce (yes I know)
We will be comfortably upper- mid table come May
Welcome to Martí Cifuentes

Re: Welcome to Martí Cifuentes
A definite gamble. Let's hope he can turn it round. I would've gone with NW - these players need a huge gee up. I understand the club are trying to look long term but survival was the priority this season. As a side issue: He's just signed a 3 year deal so we must've had to pay a right lump of comp. NW was a free agent. Just saying. Frankly I am disappointed but hopefully I'll have egg on me face which I can eat with me hat. If we are relegated, this time I will not renew.

Re: Welcome to Martí Cifuentes
As I really did not want NW back I am delighted to see us trying something with the potential to take us forward.
Many seem to have forgotten how dire the football was to watch under NW and I'm very much of the school that says football should be entertaining and results are important but not the end all.
It may not work but I would rather be supporting a team trying to improve and go forward than forever going backwards.
Good luck Marti.

I am pleasantly surprised by this appointment
Definitely one for the future. If he will be given the necessary time, or if the fanbase will call for his head if we loose at Rotherham, is a different question

Well at least no-one on here has yet said they "love him to bits" or he's "Rangers through and through" or called him a "legend" so there is hope.

Surprised but pleased by this appointment. It's certainly brave, given the situation we're in, and the polar opposite of the previous one, so credit to the club for that.
It would be tough for any manager to take on a team six points adrift at this point in the season, all the more so when it's your first job in this country, so I hope the fans will get behind him for the rest of the season.
I suppose a new manager bounce would be too much to hope for......

I wouldn't be surprised if he signs a few players from the league he is leaving. He can't do any worse than GA, having said that, I think a lot of the players let him down badly.

I agree that this is a massive gamble. His dream probably isn't to manage a Championship team at the wrong end of the table but to get a foot between the door in England and manage a big club.
If along the way he moves us forward, that's fine but this is a massive roll of the dice seeing the position we are in. Fingers crossed and let's hope he delivers. He is going to need a lot of luck with our bunch!

Wouldn't it be great if every single fan got behind the coach and players, and were vocal in their support.UxbridgeR wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 9:30 amSurprised but pleased by this appointment. Welcome Martí and good luck.
Not an appointment many of us saw coming at all. Lets hope it turns out to be a genius move by the board. Question is how many of the staff he replaces and will he want a DOF or not.
Either way, interesting times ahead.

Re: Welcome to Martí Cifuentes
...I tell you a short story....In Italy I am supporting Bologna FC...it is my home town club and I went to watch them play when I still lived in Italy....my father took me to see my first ever match....the Final of the Anglo/Italian tournament ...Bologna vs Blackpool....
Ok...so last season Bologna had to find a new head coach..the previous one, Sasha Mihalovic got
- and unfortunately he even died of leukemia -
There were many names on the table, some pretty famous and welcome by the fans...but at the end the club chose Thiago Motta, young 41 yrs old head coach, previous player....who had worked previously with minor club Spezia....and in the eyes of the majority of the fans he had been a "second hand" choice, a cheap one....though one journo who knew him well in Spezia said "You will swallow your critics...he will surprise you all"...
well...he actually turned the team upside down and gave it a nice philosophy of playing...all together as a group....the stars ...? Got sold,
like Arnautovic to Inter and the pessimism against him on his arrival has turned into enthusiasm now as he is leading the club toward the top half of the table, with good chances to play in Europe next season....He has renewed his contract for another season, when some big clubs both in Italy (Inter, AC Milan) and around Europe (PSG) were already sniffing around him...
So hope that this Marti can do at QPR what Thiago Motta has done and still doin at Bologna FC...
