Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
Ì think he is the best chance we have of staying up. Give him a contract till the end of the season and take it from there.
We don't have the players to build for the future so no need for a manager for the future. We need a crisis manager to get us out of trouble and I can't think of a better candidate than Neil.

Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
If true then this is a lazy and unimaginative appointment for me. i am not convinced that Warnock still has this in his locker.
Although Wegerle does make a very good point
''We don't have the players to build for the future so no need for a manager for the future.''
The problem is that the revamping of the squad is a huge and expensive undertaking, think HS2.

Also thanks to the Matrade deal we shall have some money available in January so are we buying for survival or the future?
For me Warnock is a panic appointment and with not even 25% of this season gone there is no need to panic.

It's an interesting thought…..
If the new manager comes in and certain players - Richards, Willock, even Chair etc suddenly turn in creditable performances, yes, great for the club but do we blame GA for not getting the best out of them or the players for getting the manager the sack.

Seeing as it's Gareth, Warburton, Beale and Critchley my money is on the players.

The right thing to do. Neil will keep as up. Gareth got his best performance out of the team yesterday IMO so at least he goes out on a high - by his standards. But I have no doubt that were he left in place, things would've reverted to normal next week.

Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
I agree. I thought we played well yesterday, that was the best I've seen us play this season. A real pity a bit of stupidity cost us.
As for Warnock, I think we are in the toilet, and only going one way. For me he is the best person to get us out of this situation. He has previous for doing it at numerous clubs. I think he will bring a sense of cohesion which was lacking under GA. Warnock is very good at getting back to basics, and certainly at the Blackburn game, we did not get the basics right.
I look forward to being at Rotherham on Saturday for the birth of the new era.

I'm with Rbee here.
For me, Warnock is another short-sighted, populist appointment. We should be looking forward, not back, but unfortunately those running the club don't seem to have any coherent plan for moving us in the right direction.

Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
well...surely Warnock is not the long term manager somebody is hoping we get somehow...
but was he GA....? He was given 4 years (3 and half) contract so it sounded as the board was thinking he could have been...
Anyway Warnock already showed in the past that he can deliver the job...save the desperate....so hope he can do it once more.
If I remember only a few seasons ago we were in the bottom three at the end of the year, then we added some good players (Charlie, Johansen...) and we had the second best record from there to the end - second only to Norwich that were promoted - and climbed the table nicely.
At the moment we don't have the resources to look very far...no money to spend, not many promising young players coming on, so we are merely trying to survive and wait (and hope) for better times to come...

We don't have the time or resources to be looking forward. We can't experiment with systems or managers at the moment, we just need to get out of this mess and start again this summer.
There in no future with QPR at Championship level for most of our players. No use attracting a promising, unknown manager to gamble just now. Warnock to clear things up till the summer and then see where we are and hopefully have a plan in place to at last really start building for the future.

Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
Yep, I get what Uxbridge is saying, but we are 6 points adrift, and look clueless. We need the X factor, and NW has shown he has that. This season after 14 games is about avoiding relegation. Time to find a long term manager to take us forward once we have achieved our prime objective.Wegerle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 3:33 pmWe don't have the time or resources to be looking forward. Things NW will bring ...
Discipline - a lack of it has cost us in the last two games.
Organisation - We have lacked that in many of the games we have played recently.
A plan A and B - not had either of those beyond ... don't lose.
Getting the best out of limited resources - he did that at QPR first time round and more recently at Rotherham and Huddersfield.
and finally ... knowing how to get a team out of the bottom three and to safety.
Right now, we need all of those things. So I will happily take him until May.

6 points adrift with 32 games to play. There's no need to panic. Nobody is suggesting getting a completely untried manager, but we should set the nostalgia aside, and widen our potential options. Warnock is nearly 75 years old. He can't be the only choice.
