Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
As you know my thoughts as well.
The Matrade deal will give us a transfer budget but it won't be that large. We will be signing players that Warnock wants that the next manager might not want, fire fighting once again, limited stratagy.

Does anyone know what we gain with this Matrade deal? Are we talking numbers to be able to buy players or numbers to be able to repaint a stand?

You have to assume several millions, players, Gareth pay off, otherwise it wouldn't be worth doing.

There's no way it's several millions, unless that's spread over a long time period. It would never get past the EFL regulations otherwise.

A manager with some skin in the game to look beyond May would be great, but we have to recognise where we are.
Giving any budget for transfers in Jan which don’t look beyond May would potentially have us exactly where we are in 12 months time.

I agree but our players have shown they are perfectly capable of only a few wins in the past 32 matches under 3 different managers. Our new manger has to hit the ground running for the remaining 32 matches to break the downward spiral.whittonhoop wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 6:07 pmA manager with some skin in the game to look beyond May would be great, but we have to recognise where we are.

I can´t think beyond Warnock to do this right now as the one capable and willing at short notice. I haven´t heard a single other name that remotely fills me with confidence so far. Hopefully we will know in a couple of days.

I'm not a fan of bringing in old favourites usually. I suppose we've had a mixed experience doing it.Wegerle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 7:48 pmI agree but our players have shown they are perfectly capable of only a few wins in the past 32 matches under 3 different managers. Our new manger has to hit the ground running for the remaining 32 matches to break the downward spiral.whittonhoop wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 6:07 pmA manager with some skin in the game to look beyond May would be great, but we have to recognise where we are.

However, we are in such deep trouble we need an instant remedy. Warnock has, time out of number, achieved this.
What's this I feel ? a nagging doubt that even he can't perform miracles ?
This will be his hardest ever task I reckon. However I feel it just has to be him.

Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
We’ve already had a couple supposedly decent managers through the door recently. They showed no signs of sorting things out. It feels likely that the next supposedly decent manager will face a similar uphill challenge. The job looks nigh on impossible at the moment. Given all that we need a miracle worker, and Warnock has worked miracles before I reckon I’d go for him too but it’s far from a good situation.
I agree that could leave us in the same place in 12 months time though.

Can we afford him ?. He will know that we are desperate and he has a good track record as a miracle worker so he will not come cheap and will want a fat bonus for keeping us up.
The man got us promoted before so I would take a punt on him. But feel he is 1 year too old now to be a miracle worker again. But we will see.

I think right now he's the best available to get us out of this mess. He has a good track record, although I think this time he might fail. If he does do it I'd like him to stay on as an assistant manager to the new one next season.

If it is Warnock then I am convinced that he will prevail. By the end of the season we will be home and dry. (I hope)

Well, it's not Warnock and I'm not convinced. Looks like Les' algorithm lives on.

Re: The Telegraph reports that it is Warnock
Lots of QPR fans will tell you that 'algorithm' worked with Beale - right up until he did the dirty and walked. I guess the algorithm wasn't set up to detect that.
Of course, we just don't know do we.
It's either going to be a lot of fun, or a total nightmare. There is absolutely no point trying to speculate which. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
