Depressing facts

Post by beaglebum » Tue Oct 10, 2023 7:54 am

This is doing the rounds on social media:-

Despite playing 21 games less in the championship this year, both Leicester (30) and Ipswich (28) have picked up more points than QPR (23).

Gareth Ainsworth has picked up 19pts from a possible 72pts with his side scoring 18 goals and conceding 42.

Can it get any more depressing than that? I think I've probably just answered my own question.

I like GA, always have and I truly wanted him to succeed. But those records speak volumes. It was the wrong appointment at the wrong time I fear and in hindsight we would've probably faired better in the long run had we been relegated last season. But 2 bad years at the club could take a long time to recover from.

WTF is going on? Why is he still here? Get Warnock in now!! We are going down like the Titanic and Amit is acting like SS Californian. If it's a question of money, they could free up shedloads by getting shot of the youth set up that has produced only Rayan Kolli in nearly 10 years. Also had his heaviest EVER defeat as a manager, whilst with us.

Keep checking BBC website to see he's been sacked - but nothing.

Nothing against him as a person, but as a manager, letting him continue is cruel for him and supporters.

NB. Looking deeper at the club, we realy are in a mess; and it doesn't stop with GA :(

...since the start of the new season I have attended 5 matches:

- Watford - QPR 4-0
- QPR - Norwich 0-1
- QPR - Ipswich 0-1
- QPR - Coventry 1-3
- QPR - Blackburn 0-4

so: 5 matches, 5 loss, 1 goal scored, 13 conceded.

DEPRESSING

I am wondering how GA is still the manager. Only possible answer: we can't afford a new one. 4 years contract given to him

I think the 4 year contract is irrelevant; you don't pay up the entire term with managers' contracts. More likely a year of it.

Even that is likely more money than we have under FFP so it might well be the case that we can't afford to sack him. But that would be more to do with signing Jeff Hendrick and Dion Sanderson on loan, giving Stef that 3 year deal, paying a million pounds for a player that just doesn't play in Taylor Richards, appointing someone in Critchley who'd already driven a wedge between him and the players after four games and sacking Critchley and having to pay him off rather than giving Ainsworth a 4 year contract.

This club seems to be beyond redemption. As annotated above, you could hardly do a worse job if your intention was to put the club out of business altogether.
Two seasons of half-arsed players who can barely walk out onto the pitch, players that have “ issues” and a manager who would be out of his depth selling burgers outside the ground.
The only stability on show is….us, the fans. Nearly full attendances at LR, Thousands going to away games despite the crumbling rail system and consistent ST sales.

Hendrick adn Sanderson were Warburton signings. Beale insisted on Richards. It shows how old the problems are. I don't think any of our last four managers are incompetent, let alone incapable of selling burgers, but they have all had disastrous runs. Warburton's last season started well, then the team shat the bed and he couldn't stop the rot. Same thing happened with Beale before he scarpered. Neither NC and GA could revive things, but the problems obviously preceded them. I think the squad does actually have talent, but it seems to me it's also got issues.

I'm not sure the squad has that much talent. Richards is an example, he certainly has issues and his
'performances' leave a lot to be desired.
Recruitment has been pants the last 5 years too. As Libertine has pointed out on a different thread,
we're on a fatal downward spiral at the moment, very very worrying.

Just think of the vast improvement if we had these 3 in harness...

Saturday can be a depressing day. Lose to Huddersfield to tighten our grip on the bottom 3, Arsenal lose their unbeaten record and England lose to South Africa twice.

GA "Roll on the season because it’s going to be a good one. ".

Maybe he is in denial that we are seriously facing relegation.
