He was by all accounts their first choice a year ago so no reason to assume that wasn’t the case this time. Admittedly the fact we don’t have a DoF wasn’t going to help us broaden the search.
I have concerns over the timing but it’s a much more imaginative appointment than whoever is having time off the merry-go-round. It’s a shame he won’t have the luxury of a pre-season or replacing the more possession oriented players. Hopefully he’s pragmatic about how quickly his methods can be adopted and to what extent.
He sounds extremely cerebral, which hopefully can inspire the players the way it did, initially at least under Beale. Fresh start for every player.
