Our Home Support
How good is it? When you consider that we've only won one home game since October 22. Absolutely brilliant. I'd like to see how other London clubs would fare in similar circumstances.

Agreed, I was just happy to see a goal. My expectations have been adjusted somewhat in the last year.

Re: Our Home Support
I think on occasions it can be toxic.
Certain players are singled out for 'special treatment' and with Loftus Road being so small they hear every word. Some people really don't understand that screaming abuse at a player will not magically make him better.
We also seem much more interested in abusing the opposition fans and team, than we are in supporting our own. Personal comments about overweight/ oversized fans, or sexist rubbish aimed at female fans, is not supporting the team. We give this stuff out regularly - the song with the line about interbreeding and being northern scum comes to mind.
Strangely, we get very offended if anyone should return the favour.
Of course we are not the only supporters to do this, but there are plenty who support their teams for 90 minutes without resorting to the other crap. The thing is, when we are focused on the positive support for the team, that's when people talk about Loftus Road rocking and having a super atmosphere.
There will be many who don't agree, but they are probably the ones shouting abuse.

Re: Our Home Support
Strongly agree with you, Zenith.
I don't think the atmosphere at LR is that great to be honest, I don't think it has been for some time and I feel like it's getting worse. Wasn't it Gerry Francis that commented about our fans needing a little something to wake/liven them up, be it a bit of skill or a tasty challenge? Whoever it was it's always stuck with me.
Not necessarily laying into the fans but having sat for years in mid-Ellerslie, where it can be quiet and need a bit of a boost, I changed to the rail seating/standing to go with friends and enjoy a bit more atmosphere. There's definitely a different dynamic there, and while I get that it's meant to be a catalyst to boost support - I do resent being called a cu-next Tuesday by certain people for having the audacity to not sing, while they take a break from the witty "lino, you're a c***" and "shit f***ing haircut" levels of weekly 'witty' banter, or - a personal highlight - screaming "get him off!" at Chair when the alternative is, er... George Thomas

For me, that's not atmosphere and people are going about it the wrong way trying to generate it. I don't know what the secret sauce is exactly, but I was a guest of a friend at Palace 1-2 years ago and what they had was phenomenal for a club of a comparable size to ours - and I recognise that we are trying to take steps in that direction. Yes it's partly down to what goes on on the pitch, perceived connection with the club etc, but we're a long way short of promotion back to the Championship or (rare highlights) home PL games against Chelsea etc.

Re: Our Home Support
GA says he wants to get LR rocking again. There have been games when the atmosphere has been electric but my perception is that in general our crowd is comparatively subdued.
Plenty of individual witty remarks but not combined singing and chanting.
Come On You Rs tends to fade after two or three repetitions.
Even back in the days of Stan Bowles I remember one newspaper using the phrase “ the cathedral-like calm of Loftus Rd”.
I think you have to go back a bit further with ROD-NEE reverberating around the ground.
What do others think ?
