Since there's not much else to talk about while we are on the international break, I was sitting here thinking about FFP and an owners inability to pump money in to a club like what happened with Chelsea, Man City and to an extent other clubs.
One thought I had was, what stops a club owner sponsoring or having one of there other 'holdings' becoming a very lucrative shirt sponsor of the club..?
I tried a brief search and couldn't really find if there was a sponsorship cap but maybe one of the wiser folk here would know the reason it can't be done.
Is there a limit to sponsorship..?

I think there is some rule that requires the sponsorship to be in line with market levels. Of course does not seem to apply to Chelsea and the rest.SuperHoopsa wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 7:44 pmSince there's not much else to talk about while we are on the international break, I was sitting here thinking about FFP and an owners inability to pump money in to a club like what happened with Chelsea, Man City and to an extent other clubs.

Seems about right, no doubt governed by completely unbiased individuals!QPR_John wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:16 pmI think there is some rule that requires the sponsorship to be in line with market levels. A few years ago a supporter (Mr Winton?) funded the signing of Danny Shittu, and I think contributed to his wages. I'm guessing this concept was the crux of Faulingate. Although maybe it's about who is doing the funding and what the contract says?
