Decent game, Sinclair looked unplayable again at this level. The tractor boys had a shed load of shots that could have put us in a world of trouble if they knew how to hit the target. Very impressed with Smyth and unimpressed with Willock. And I thought us fans did all we could, good noise and support. Disappointed, but that bloody hope has returned, god dam it !

...usually I don't like to name "Lady Luck" but today indeed she was not on our side...the double post hit by Sinclair and that miss by Kakay could have easily put us on a well deserved 2-0 lead....and instead SA and Field went out injured and that was the turning point....with our attack reduced in size and height and us keeping playing high and long balls.....and basically gifting them the three points...when they hardly deserved one...

A very good assessment, Giorgio. Ipswich would've gone home happy with a point. Another disgraceful refereeing performance didn't help. How 4 of our players get booked and only one of theirs is one of those mysteries only known to the EFL. Not to mention the fact that every set piece we had into their box should've been a penalty 5 times over at least if the officials could actually enforce the rules of the game.Giorgio wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 11:41 pm...usually I don't like to name "Lady Luck" but today indeed she was not on our side...the double post hit by Sinclair and that miss by Kakay could have easily put us on a well deserved 2-0 lead....and instead SA and Field went out injured and that was the turning point....with our attack reduced in size and height and us keeping playing high and long balls.....and basically gifting them the three points...when they hardly deserved one...![]()

Re: Match Thread: Queens Park Rangers FC v Ipswich Town
My first match since last year at home to Baggies. Another 1-0 loss.
My quick takeaway...
Begovic looked decent and made one great save. Seems self assured.
Fox looked assured and in control at the back.
Good to see Willock back but he seemed disinterested during warm up and didn't have his shooting boots on, however he got stuck in a few times. We came out very slowly after the break without him.. coincidence?
Sinclair was immense... but mostly created his own chances. I was still celebrating the double woodwork goal long after most had realised it hadn't gone it. Gutting.
Chair was all over the park and can't fault his work rate. Still not convinced he meant that 'lob'
Thought Smyth als9 worked hard, so fairly decent.
Quite impressed with Mick Hucknell (Colback)
...nothing spectacular but seems to read the game pretty well and was directing play a few times (Captain material?)
The young lad Kolli wasn't given a chance. Pumping long balls up there for most of the second half didn't exactly help. He may be better in a slightly withdrawn role.
A general point Ipswich were better organized, played the ball on the ground, flooded the midfield and just seemed more like a team. They created chances (and were laughably woeful at finishing) whereas we kind of had chances by mistakes or just randomly.
Some spectacular misses too. Ipswich heading down and wide from a few yards, and shining a volley from about 12 yds out... both in front of the loft.
I have to mention Kakay.... still shaking my head and sporting a rueful smile on that miss... Otherwise though he looked decent enough.

Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out.
