Willock
The Boro message boards are alive with the rumour that he is going to them with Matt Crooks coming to us plus cash. Loft for words talking about it too. Unsubstantiated so far. Their fans seem happy about it. Based on his performance against them last year, I suppose. Could be a good move for all concerned. Crooks is a big powerful lad. Could he be the replacement we needed for Geoff C? Thoughts?

Re: Willock
I be glad to see him go. He hasn't been doing anything for us for ages. He has talent, just not sure what has happened to him past 12 months.

Re: Willock
Don't know if it's true, but it sounds sensible.
As I see it, our three best attacking players (at least on paper) are Willock, Dykes and Chair. I like them all, in their way, but they are not well matched as a group. Chair works well with anyone, and very well with Willock, but they tend not to provide for Dykes.
The best option might be to get a mobile, goalscoring forward similar to Nakhi Wells, that would match them better, but replacing Willock seems more realistic, to me, good though I think he is.

Re: Willock
I'm just really disappointed with how it turned out for Willock. He looked such a gem of a player and if he continued that form for the rest of the season we could have got £10 million for him. Instead he got injured and then just seemed to give up, maybe something happened behind the scenes that he was not happy with, he clearly does not want to be here so I am not upset he is leaving. Hopefully we have a good sell on percentage and he does well for Boro.

Re: Willock
He signed a one year contract extension barely a month ago, and his deal now runs to 2025. There's been no managerial change at Boro, so it seems unlikely he would be leaving so soon after that. He's more of an attacking midfielder and has been used as a striker too, so not really a Cameron type replacement, other than that he's a big lump who puts himself about a bit. Certainly more of an Ainsworth type player than Willock.

He seems happy enough about it in this interview.

Re: Willock
GA needs to get the best out of Willock. He's our best Haka performer.
Seriously though he should be our best player and light up this league.

Re: Willock
...well....he was brilliant two seasons ago and got the POTY premium.....
then last year after his injury he came back a completely different player...
...it looks like he is afraid to get injured again. Remember the first match he came in he just did not run for the ball.....

Apologies, I should have read your post thoroughly. I thought you were referring to Willock.UxbridgeR wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 8:39 amHe seems happy enough about it in this interview.

WLS saying Brizzel are interested in Willock. They just sold Alex Scott for ~£25mil so they've got money to spend.
