The Vauxhall Motors game was the absolute nadir but at least we drew it and lost on penalties.
The introduction of Cook has made an enormous difference but that can't explain the total transformation yesterday. Possibly Ainsworth has had a damascene conversion to attractive stylish football. Long may it continue.
And Armstrong showed indications he could be the next Les Ferdinand, who took some years to develop.

The worst game that I ever watched was us losing to Oxford in the milk cup. The old man took me to that game. I spent my pocket money on a Qpr flag. I will never forgive them for that performance.Andy_N19 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 6:56 pmGiorgio, there were some performances at the back end of last season at HQ which were
not even National League level from us and were so bad I saw people who have been going
for 40+ years leave early. infact I was close to that myself then, you sure you didn't see
those abominations?

Although it's hard to look beyond 'the Final that never took place', probably because of the importance of the occasion (quite what possessed me to take my brother & his mate to watch that fiasco, I shall never know). I do recall a 5-0 thumping at White Hart Lane being a particularly poor performance as was the 4-0 drubbing at Filbert Street a couple of months later (Lineker, Lynex & Alan Smith all on the score sheet), Leicester fans adding insult to injury by hurling rocks at the away fans as we were escorted by the OB back to the station. Four goals from Brian Deane in the 6-1 defeat at Elland Road (after being 1-0 inside 2 minutes thanks to a certain Gareth Ainsworth) was also pretty galling. I could go on...Nw6ranger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:26 pmThe worst game that I ever watched was us losing to Oxford in the milk cup. The old man took me to that game. The second half at the Hawthorns under McLaren was really bad. We went in level at 1-1 at half time, and lost 7-1.
I still don't know what happened. But it was like a Championship team played the first half and a pub team played the second.
I think WBA eased off in the latter stages too, or it could have been worse.

Yes, that match at Wembley was the only QPR game that I have ever left before the finalNw6ranger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:26 pmThe worst game that I ever watched was us losing to Oxford in the milk cup. It's simple. Score more goals than they do.

Maybe.
I took a friend (Liverpool fan) to Loftus Road to see QPR v Liverpool.
'Who's that centre forward? He's pretty good' he said.
'He's called Les Ferdinand. He could be really good if he were not so laid-back' I replied

He came on a bit.

The year the League Cup Final ended at Anfiled and theyn played that rediculous exhibition match at Wembley, where none of our players could be arsed to turn up. Yes, that was bad.Nw6ranger wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:26 pmThe worst game that I ever watched was us losing to Oxford in the milk cup. The old man took me to that game. Thinking of Liverpool reminds me of my lowest moment as a QPR fan (there have been many), which was the most infamous match we were not involved in. Letting Liverpool play their final game about a month after the season had actually finished. I was devistated when that score came through. We WERE Champions! The newspaper headline is still with me, complete with Dave Webb and his cigar - " The titles coming to town"

I was at the Milk Cup Final and if the score wasn't bad enough a QPR 'supporter' a few rows above me started picking a fight with me for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I was just standing behind the goal with my dad and was just looking around. Pretty frightening for the young lad that I was and I really hope this bloke eventually picked a fight with the wrong person.
