(from LFW)
Fee agreed, deal done between Fry/McAnthony and Gareth, player had cleaned out his locker at Peterborough and said goodbye, was at Loftus Road for all the photographs and media stuff with his parents and agent, QPR's higher ups pulled the plug saying no transfer fees under any circumstances. Player gutted, back to Posh tail between his legs. Peterborough fuming, not getting their cash. Gareth mortified and embarrassed. Not great.

So maybe ... it wasn't all Les Ferdinand's fault.

As some would have you believe.

Have the owners given up?

Are they hoping to off load the club and don’t want to spend anything not essential in the meantime?

I’m genuinely surprised that there’s been so little movement in the last three weeks or so. Unless the manager can start getting meaningful contributions out of Willock, Richards and JCS, it’s going to be a long old season, I fear.

I agree, very worrying. It's not like we have made a decent start. Out of the first cup and already in an uncomfortable league position, although very early days of course.
Ainsworth was convinced we'd get one or two more in so he can't be satisfied.
A long, hard season ahead of us. We'll all just have to stick together from here on and hope for a few miracles.

Or are the finances worse than we thought? Fingers crossed Eze moves to Man City for zillions in the summer.

Surely our owners are still wealthy and given the stratospheric spending in World football at the minute a million or two on a player can’t be that big a problem.

Yep, and with our 'previous' they would happily hit us hard - probably with a points deduction. Don't forget - they don't like us.

If only it was that easy ... we would no doubt have picked up some of those deemed beyond our price range, and hopefully, we would all be a lot happier. Sadly, there are rules. While others seem to have found a way round them, we got our pants taken down and got smacked, with a firm warning not to do it again.

Maybe, just maybe, GA can get a tune out of this squad.
Fox looks solid and Colburn could be a Shaun Derry type.

Who knows we could sit comfortably mid table when the dust settles

Are we still kidding ourselves that "they" have got it in for little old QPR ?

We brazenly broke the rules, bragged about it, fought it all the way for years rather than just holding our hands up to what we'd done, and were punished accordingly.
We deserved everything we got, and arguably got off lightly.

OK, that was a little tongue in cheek.

The thing is, both the FA and the EFL lack consistency. Certain clubs get off with a slapped wrist, while others are slammed. This has been going on for years. In 1968, Peterborough were relegated to the old Div 4 for 'financial irregularities'. Around the same time Manchester United committed a similar offence and got a small fine. The difference Peterborough were skint, and Man U were European Champions. Just look at how they treated Luton.

The simple fact is, if we break the rules again they will hit us hard.

You may or may not be right but there is still one small point that bugs me. We were fined a world record amount bigger than anything any club has got for breaking its association's rules. Soon after the rules regarding any punishments were changed as even the FA and or the FL realised they were out of all proportion to the infringement but still decided to pursue us under the old rules. One can only guess at their reasons. I cannot recall the club bragging about it and we had every right as has anybody to appeal the decision. Teams are now punished with points deductions and some because of the vagaries of said procedure escaped punishment but no punishment except ours has had the effect it has and lasted so long. That we won Faulingate must upset a lot of people. I think we have every right to feel a little aggrieved.

Surely if "they" really had it it in for us, they would have deducted points over the Faurlin affair and stopped us from being automatically promoted.

Also, points deductions aren't necessarily a soft option. Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan and Reading have all been relegated from the Championship in recent years as a result of being hit with them.
