those two new signing are hard-core pros. You will never see them asking for a stretcher over a cracked toe nail.222gers wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:56 pmOrdinarily, I would agree. But, with the likes of JCS, Richards, Dozell and even Willock this club was heading for its lowest points tally ever.UxbridgeR wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:38 pmIt doesn’t seem unlikely for a Premier League player. I’m sure we won’t be paying him anywhere near that, but whatever we are paying him (and Colback too), you can bet it will be at the top end of our wage scale. For a club that claims money is extremely tight, I’m not sure that’s the best use of what we do have.
I think you'll find the older players will be of a different kidney and will be too professional to just run up the white flag as the others have.

Kevin De Bruyne is also 32, admittedly he did do his hammy on Friday but I'm just saying.
Question everything.

You have to ask what is the best use. If we stay up I would argue whatever has been spent on wages is well spent. After last years capitulation we need players like that.UxbridgeR wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 9:38 pmIt doesn’t seem unlikely for a Premier League player. It seems that was an estimated amount.

Re: Summer 2023 Rumour / Transfer Thread…
Generally our bodies peak at 27 to 30. From 30 onwards there is an inevitable decline in speed, stamina, recovery from injuries etc, some quicker than others. Charlie Austin, Stef Johansen and the far Eastern guy from Man U whose name escapes me are examples from our ranks. Centre halves generally can go on for longer because they do not need pace usually, and of course keepers.
Ray Wilkins was a classic example of managing age due to his vision and positional skills but also as he admitted "I had Barker and Holloway to do my running for me!"

Gordon Strachan was another good exanple, I believe he put his footballing longevity down to eating a lot of bananas!pindarus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 11:37 amGenerally our bodies peak at 27 to 30. BBC saying Man City may be bidding for Eze. Let's hope they're right for once - the sell-on fee would be a dream come true.

This prompts two questions ...
Do we definitely have a sell on clause from when we sold him to Palace?
and
If so, how much/ what percentage?

I dunno - some say 10% some say 20%. Some say that a % of the fee, some say a % of the profit Palace make on the deal.ZENITH R wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 8:46 pmdeadendjob wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2023 8:32 pmCan't see it. They're about to sign Doku.

As always, we are left in the dark.
This sort of thing is a blot on our escutcheon - last season we survived largely because other teams had points deducted, this season, possibly by a sell-on clause.

At the time of the transfer 20% was mentioned all over the place.

Ian Mc @ WLS reckons 25% of total fee
Dave Mc @ WLS reckons not even close to that. In short no one knows but better than nothing.

Even if we got 5 to 10 million that would be a life saver to our finances. Think he has 2 years left on his contract, what if he runs his contract down and leaves on a free ?.
