Only 31? Far too young for Ainsworth.

It doesn’t bode well that even the more positive and inclined to give managers a chance are struggling on this one.

Thank you to everyone who’s been clamoring for this appointment and given the populist wankers in charge the perception this was a good idea.

Also interesting to note that Ainsworth’s “I want a smaller squad supplemented with youth players” has become I want 7 loan players in please.

I don't usually post negatively but with Ainsworth I am prepared to go out on a limb. One of his selling points was that he knew divs 1 and 2 inside out and could pick up some gems cheaply and develop them.
So what have we had? Ageing ex championship players who are not going to get any better and certainly won't command a fee.
Quite honestly from the Haka onwards we have heard nothing but bollocks from him. Where are the gems? Does he now want 7 loans or is it 1 or 2?
A populist appointment to placate the "love him to bits" brigade. He tells us how much he loves this club and wouldn't have left WW for any other club. The same message he gave Preston when he hoped they might appoint him.

Put aside whoever is in charge - I think the point being missed or overlooked is that it takes time to develop youth players so unless there is anyone ready to step up from day one then it is necessary to bring in players for the here and now.

Once there is some stability in the team THEN you can bring in the younger players to be developed - hopefully as part of a planned progression.
This time we'll get it right - just believe!

Linked with Steve Cook again: https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr ... JrgvulvQ_0
Underwhelming doesn't even describe this.
I'd be interested in who you think we should/could have signed? I think experience in Cook's position is often worth its weight. We have had a number of players at the wrong end of their careers play in a similar position over the years. Many of them very successfully.
Somebody under the age of 30 would be a good start!

We've got a youth team full of those ... very few (if any) are good enough.

It appears that swapping Cook (32) for Gubbins (22) this afternoon has seen a big improvement in our defence.

And don't forget that 32 these days isn't THAT old if the player has looked after himself. With a bit of luck there is still a couple of years left in him.

You're never too old to rock 'n' roll if you're too young to die.

No great surprise that a player with the best part of 400 first team games under his belt is an improvement on one making his first start.

The point being made surely is that you don’t have to be in your thirties to have leadership qualities and experience. Yes, we need those things in the squad, but it is also crying out for pace and energy.

“Now, using Capology, we have looked at the estimated salary that the defender was on at Nottingham Forest.“

It seems that was an estimated amount.

It doesn’t seem unlikely for a Premier League player. I’m sure we won’t be paying him anywhere near that, but whatever we are paying him (and Colback too), you can bet it will be at the top end of our wage scale. For a club that claims money is extremely tight, I’m not sure that’s the best use of what we do have.

Ordinarily, I would agree. But, with the likes of JCS, Richards, Dozell and even Willock this club was heading for its lowest points tally ever.
I think you'll find the older players will be of a different kidney and will be too professional to just run up the white flag as the others have.
