Board outage

Post by DG » Fri Jul 16, 2021 3:58 pm

So, this is what happened.

Two things on the same day. The hosting company upgraded the PHP version of everything without telling me, or anyone else, first. This killed the board, and reset it somewhere in the past. Simultaneously, the payment failed, due to lack of funds. The hosting co then emailed me through the board, which, of course, I could not receive. They then emailed me through a backup email address, but that didn't get sent, they say, because of the payment failing.

I've now paid, reset the PHP version to one that works, and hopefully things will be back to normal, whatever that is these days.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks to all who did try to contact me, but without success.

Thanks, DG. I just assumed the board had been cancelled. Bloody culture wars.

Good to see normal service restored. Now about these new kits......

Hi, so is this why there haven't been any new posts for a while now?

Thanks

Must admit, I panicked a bit and had to venture off to other boards, but feel this one is the cream of the crop.
Thanks for all the hard work you put in Drew.

Thank you Drew, welcome back. Moving forward though we need a contingency plan. A few of us tried to contact you, a few of us looked for Virginia R but to no avail. If there is anything I can do just ask. Next time my Paypal has some funds I will fling some over. Is the email address listed here still valid?

Came here everyday in the hope that it wasn't closed. Cleared my cache in case it was just me. Then cleared it again. Then started to find myself frequenting other less classier joints. Dot.org is by far and away the best message board in the QPR community and long may it reign supreme.

Glad to be home.

I resorted to "reporting" the last post in this forum as it was the only way I could post a message. Sorry, Giorgio!

LOL. I resorted to trying to track down the admin on other SM sites like FB & Twitter but to no avail. :D

Glad to see that the board is back. I don't post so much these days but I do read it.

Well done for sorting it out, DG. This board is great for staying in touch. Really missed it. Thanks for all your work on it.

I've come across the same exact problem recently, screws up any site instantly and is an absolute
pain to resolve.

Welcome back DG, good to have our fix back! :)
