Are we safe yet?

Post by ZENITH R » Sat Apr 10, 2021 5:27 pm

Very nearly!

We could be as soon as Tuesday.

Currently ...

We have 56 points

Wycombe can only get to 48
Sheff Wed (after today's tanking in W12) can only get to 53

Derby can get to 58.

So, it's that close.

A few if only moments this season, and we could have had a realistic shout at the play offs.

Safe as houses. I would loov it if three of the big clubs went down as they've all got away with FFP swindles.
Sadly it looks highly likely Wycombe and Rotherham will go. So perhaps only one of the “big clubs” will accompany them.

Rotherham.may yet give a couple of those bigger clubs a run for their money - wouldn't be surprised to see thm targeting their home game with Coventry plus one or two others.

We may help their (Rotherham's) cause yet. We are not always at our best in midweek games three days after a good win, e.g Notts Forest, Preston ...

Rotherham have only played 37 games, Derby have an 8 point advantage but have played 4 games more i e 41, so it's never over until it's over.

Even Birmingham are in reach just about - Rotherham's goal difference is currently better than those around them, including Birmingham and Derby. WR's Derby down on GD anyone...?

How about Captain Catastrophe Keogh takes Shuddersfield down and Derby go with them?

There was even an outside chance of yhe Bus Stop Boys being shuffled out of the play offs eventually ... they needed that win yesterday.

I'd like to see Derby, Chef Wendy and Brum go down but I doubt it'll happen sadly.
I think Brentford will go up and suffer VAR, star-struck refs and hardly any Saturday 3pm kickoffs. Good luck to 'em !
Actually, unlike younger Rs fans I still have a bit of a soft spot for Brentford going back to when I was too young to go to Rangers away games and would catch the trolleybus up to Griffin Park to see a few games a season.

Please keep in mind that the teams below us will face each other !

Rotherham - Coventry
Rotherham - Birmingham
Derby - Birmingham
Huddersfield - Coventry
Derby - Sheff W

Obviously not all of the above teams can have maximum points from remaining games

Taken that Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe are out I guarantee that at least one other team will not reach 56 points.

Sheffield Wed at home to Bristol City and Blackburn and last game away to Derby - could be interesting....
