Maybe, but that would be a lot of weight to put on the shoulders of a 20 year-old with next to no experience of Championship football.
Wasn't LTC similar in 2013/2014 ?

Needs must, Dieng is a breakout success maybe he will be as well?
2021/2022.... Keep Calm, no matter the season, we'll follow our team.....

Dieng has had loans spells in the last two seasons where he played regular first team football though. Bettache had a handful of games at Billericay.

I mean if we have to throw him in, so be it, but I doubt it would be the way MW wants to play it.

It appears Smyth will return to us: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton ... ll-in-se7/ The article seems to suggest we're bringing him back because Charlton now have new options in their squad. It will be interesting to see if we send him out on loan elsewhere.

He doesn't seem to have made any kind of impact in his loan spells at L1 level and is out of contract in the summer, so he will surely be off then.

Shame. Was harbouring hopes for this lad coming from NI.

I'm surprised he hasn't made an impression. He looked dynamite for us v Cardiff. He was half the size of their defenders but worried the life out of them. Few would forget his somersault goal celebration.

Now Johansen is in for the rest of the season, I do hope Bettache gets a loan at a decent league 1 club. The lad needs games.

Nice interview with Stefan, a tough midfielder who can pass is exactly what we need at the moment

Good signing. Experience and looked good when he was playing in this division last time. We are in a tougher position but I would take him over most of our current options in central midfield, especially given our injuries there.

Accrington Stanley are reportedly interested in taking Smyth this month. He was on loan there in 2019.

What's our final transfer window day wish list?

The CM area would benefit from a box to box player with energy and creativity. And, of course, a LB/LWB would also benefit the team. I'd prefer loans for these two positions at this stage, unless there's a hidden gem or two we just unearthed.

In terms of loans out, I'm still hoping Bettache gets one as I feel his development is being hindered by sitting on the bench this season. There are numerous U23s who should be loaned out such as Amrit Bansal-McNulty, Stephen Duke-McKenna and Joe Gubbins but, with non-leagues from National North and South and below currently suspended, opportunities are limited.

Lumley could be set to join Forest.
