Re: Liam Manning
Fair point regarding Rowatt's tenure at Millwall.....
Still feels like asking a bird out multiple times (after being rejected numerous times before)....
I want someone young and hungry to succeed (maybe Liam Manning is the answer)....

I am not that fussed who the new manager is because you need a slice of luck to really succeed in football management. The manager and the club have to fit together, the fans, the owners. It rarely happens.
Ollie first time round was the one for me followed by Dave Sexton, Terry Venables.

Gordon Jago was a great fit for me.... He built Dave Sexton's side.... Dave added Masson, Webb and Hollins, all aging but experienced pros...Rbee wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 1:28 amI am not that fussed who the new manager is because you need a slice of luck to really succeed in football management. He left at the right time as we were in decline in 77 / 78
Who knows Warburton may have left the building blocks for the new manager but you feel players will be sold for the right price this summer instead

Masson Webb and Hollins were all "safe" signings. You knew what you were getting.
Jago signed Givens Bowles and Thomas. All relatively unknown and therefore risky. But boy, what inspirations!
No comparison.

Re: Liam Manning
Not really into wanting Ainsworth at HQ now, Wycombe looked disjointed yesterday and
reverted to the long ball game.
Manning ticks all the boxes according to what we're looking for in terms of pressing,
playing it around and concentrating on bringing younger players through, I just hope
Sir Les doesn't interfere in that respect.

Re: Liam Manning
I agree on Manning sounding like the best affordable option but when you say "interfere", what do you mean? Surely LFs remit as DoF is to advise the board accordingly on the best possible option for the club.Andy_N19 wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 5:43 pmNot really into wanting Ainsworth at HQ now, Wycombe looked disjointed yesterday and

Re: Liam Manning
It's his occasional foray into player recruitment which hasn't paid off, if hopefully it is Manning then he or anyone he trusts bringing in players has to override Ferdinands recommendations.
Just thought, if it is him then where does Eustace stand seeing as he's officially still connected with the club?

I wouldn't mind having Sean Dyche at the club. He's got a proven track record at getting out of the Championship and staying in the premier league with a limited budget. Burnley probably would have stayed up if they kept him.

Absolutely no chance, sadly.mickeystar wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 2:05 pmI wouldn't mind having Sean Dyche at the club. He's got a proven track record at getting out of the Championship and staying in the premier league with a limited budget. Burnley probably would have stayed up if they kept him.

Re: Liam Manning
It's clear the club didn't have a successor already lined up. Time is of the essence though, with STs and ticket prices to sort out and players' contracts at an end.

Re: Liam Manning
I'm still a little confused as to why Eustace has turned down managerial roles to stay with us. He would've been appointed by now if he was going to be MWs successor.

I am confused by this too. Mark seems to be so unacceptable that we are willing to let him go without a planned replacement it seems. I was expecting John to be announced after a respectful period of time had passed. This has gone beyond that which deadendjob points out.

I presume he's applied for the job, but it's only right that they consider all available options. The club have been criticized in the past for not having a proper selection process, or at least a reasonably transparent one.deadendjob wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 6:02 pmI'm still a little confused as to why Eustace has turned down managerial roles to stay with us. Re: Liam Manning
Manning was sacked by MK Dons yesterday, with the team in the relegation zone and six points adrift of safety. Six months ago his name was being touted around for various Championship managerial roles.
Beale conducted himself very poorly, but when you see the lack of loyalty regularly shown by clubs to managers, it's hard to blame them for jumping ship when better opportunities come along.

Re: Liam Manning
I do agree but Beale had no intention whatsoever of staying with us for very long and he really had the worst case of verbal diarrhoea.
