I can't see that he would be what we are looking for.

We have Charlie (for the experienced goal poacher role)
We have Lyndon, on the up, and showed promise last season
And we have another Charlie ... young, keen and learning.

If we needed a fourth striker someone like ... Macauley Bonne? Oh hold on, scrub that one at least until January.

Gray is 30 ... has scored 130 goals in 270 starts and 94 from the bench. Nearly half those goals were for Luton at a lower level. Hardly inspiring. On the flip side ... MW bought him to Brentford where he scored 20 times in 47 starts and 5 from the bench. So, maybe there is a connection and something to work with.

Watford paid £11,500,000 for him in 2017, maybe his contract is up, and we could get him for nowt. That might work, if he didn't want silly wages.

I can't imagine we can afford whatever Watford want (and someone will probably pay it) for someone who will be a third string striker. In the past i'd be worried we'd do something like this out of desperation or because of his profile. Now i have a degree of confidence the club know what they're doing and LF & MW have done there due-diligence, know the player and belive he can make an impact at a price we can afford. If all things were equal i'd rather we were turning to Gray than Kellman for a late goal.

I've read that Watford are lining up Blackburn's Adam Armstrong in exchange for Gray plus cash.
Question everything.

Oh noes... the #19 shirt is, as yet, unfilled.

From my very weak memory...

Best player from Watford HH
Worst G Mahon

Never really liked Mahon either. Think we've done well out of Watford though - Chris Day especially and Steve Palmer were huge at a pivotal time for the club, Alex Bonnot wasn't bad either, HH had a slow start but did a great job.

How could you forget midfield dynamos Daniel Tozser & Gabriele Angella. :? :D

Angella played at the back, didn't he? Watford fans made Tozser sound like Faulin. Mahon did an alright job, nothing glamorous but worked hard, didn't let us down much from memory.
