I think it was only in fans' minds that the deal was contingent on Lumley going there.

Ibrahimovic is 39 and I'd welcome him with open arms.

I'd have Murray in a flash. His age is irrelevant if he can do the business, and he's a better alternative than Rhodes. Brighton owe us after foisting Hemed and Mlakar on us.

Re: January 2021 Transfer Thread
My son and I discussed this at work today. Ibrahimovic, or indeed Ronaldo who was his chosen example, have been so bloody good when they were younger that you'd take them at 37 gladly. I don't want to sound negative, but Glenn Murray was never of that ilk, and since he's been on loan at Watford I'm not aware he's been banging them in? Happy to be proven wrong, but sounds like madness.

Re: January 2021 Transfer Thread
He has had very little game time at Watford. Watford have a Premier League squad so have many other striking options whereas we don't. More than happy to give him a chance to play.W12Allstars wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 7:56 pmI don't want to sound negative, but Glenn Murray was never of that ilk, and since he's been on loan at Watford I'm not aware he's been banging them in? Re: January 2021 Transfer Thread
Yeah, he's only played 5 games for Watford. His careers winding down, he was scoring fairly regularly until the past few years. Lad knows where the goal is and if he's brought in to help Dykes and Bonne, then great. He's unlikely to be a starting striker thoughRbee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 8:30 pmHe has had very little game time at Watford. Re: January 2021 Transfer Thread
I'm not sure we can be afforded the luxury of an experienced striker imparting his knowledge / skills to a couple of rookies over a period of time. What we need is someone who knows where the back of the net is and comes on the cheap, which is a bit of a tall order! Just maybe we already have that person in Charlie Kelman? If you're good enough you're old enough and all that. To mention Murray in the same breath as Ibrahimovic is a bit of a stretch to say the least. Let's not forget Zamora was a mere 33 when he scored that goal, he was hardly prolific for us and only ever looked like a goal machine in his early twenties playing for Brighton.
Question everything.

Re: January 2021 Transfer Thread
To clarify, I mentioned Ibrahimovic solely to compare their ages, not their capability. i.e. Ibra is 39 and still playing at the highest level. Murray is 37 so he should still have a couple of years in him if he still has the desire. I'd say he's be a great signing until the end of the season. He'd help Dykes with his game I suspect.WA Hoop wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 12:43 amI'm not sure we can be afforded the luxury of an experienced striker imparting his knowledge / skills to a couple of rookies over a period of time. Clarification wouldn't have been needed if you had been a little more expansive than "Ibrahimovic is 39 and I'd welcome him with open arms". Anyway thanks, I now understand the point you were making.n22hoop wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 10:28 amTo clarify, I mentioned Ibrahimovic solely to compare their ages, not their capability. i.e. Ibra is 39 and still playing at the highest level.
