I was too but if Shodipo is to be loaned out that would leave us with just Eze, Chair, Bos and Pugh for the front 3. So it makes sense from that perspective and also would if an Eze move is in the frame this month. Hopefully not of course.

He looked an exciting player for Leeds last season, but has barely figured since he went back there on loan.
Also we already have five loans, and you can only have five in a matchday squad, so frankly it looks a bit odd. Maybe Mlakar is going back to Brighton. He's getting virtually no game time, which they can't be happy with.

Dave Mc has suggested both Mlakar and Smith will return to their parent clubs this month.

I would return Mlakar and Smith and send Shodipo and Masterson on loan (assuming Barbet is back soon). If we can sign a proper leader for midfield to be new captain that would be great (another Derry).

I’d keep masterson and give him a chance. Looks decent to me.White Duck wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 12:53 pmI would return Mlakar and Smith and send Shodipo and Masterson on loan (assuming Barbet is back soon). Yes he's made a good start for us but only worth keeping him in the squad if he plays most weeks which I doubt will happen if Hall, Leistner and Barbet are all fit. Better to give him half a season of regular football in Div One rather than a couple of appearances with us.trevsinclair85 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 2:13 pmI’d keep masterson and give him a chance. That's me finished with QPR if Smith and Mlakar go back.

Seriously though, Clarke could be a handy short-term signing. Still, it's halfway through January and we still haven't lost any key players.

Quite how we'll cope without them, I just don't know.
I think Smith has been a little unfortunate in not getting more opportunities to show what he can do.
As for Mlakar, I guess we'll never know whether he'd have been a decent player for us or not.

Allowing Masterson and Shodipo to get a regular run of games without the pressures they would encounter in our first team makes sense to me.
I think Jack Clarke could be a really interesting signing if it happens. Could bring decent balance with both BOS and him on either flank.

That's a big if for the best of squads. Even without injury there's suspension. And we have had Cameron deputising there this season. I'd say we were shorter at centre back, where we often play three, than in attacking midfield, where we often have just two.White Duck wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 2:20 pmYes he's made a good start for us but only worth keeping him in the squad if he plays most weeks which I doubt will happen if Hall, Leistner and Barbet are all fit. Unlikely. Tottenham paid £10M for him just last summer. I doubt we could afford him, and if he was for sale, I think there'd be much bigger clubs interested.
