Luongo news

Australia lose 1 nil to Jordan with Luongo starting but subbed on 74 mins. An early return for our favourite Aussie perhaps?

Everyone loses to Jordan.

He was dropped to the bench and came on for the last 15 minutes in their second game. Shame as I thought he'd be first choice for them with Mooy injured and Jedinak retiring: hope he can get back into the starting line up for the rest of the tournament.

Hmmm. The Aussies are now 2nd in their table after their 3-0 victory over Palestine. My early optimism looks misplaced unless Syria can do us a favour.

You're quite right though I'd imagine feelings would be similar about Australia.

Quite funny seeing QPR fans hoping a player's national side have a bad tournament to have him back earlier.....

I'm just imagining all those Non English Spud supporters during last year's World Cup praying for England to be knocked out in that last 16 penalty shootout so that Kane and co could have a decent break before the start of the Premier League season.....
2018/2019.... Keep Calm, no matter the season, we'll follow our team.....

I hope he has a good tournament as he'll come back full of confidence so a bit disappointed he was dropped for the last game. At least he's had more playing time than at the World Cup though.

Started in their 3-2 victory over Syria that put them into the next round: don't know how well he played but he got booked and substituted.

He won't be back for a while yet.....

The Aussie's scrape through against Uzbekistan on pens with Luongo coming off the bench in extra time for the final 9 minutes. They move onto the quarterfinals on Friday against United Arab Emirates or Kyrgyzstan.

Frustrating that Mas isn't getting a load of game time: doesn't sound like Australia are playing very well at all despite to low standard of the opposition.

The Socceroos lost 1-0 to the UAE which means Massimo will be coming home soon presumably.

He wasn't in the team which was once again unable to score despite dominating possession at times.

Quite why he doesn't get into their team at the moment is a bit baffling but hopefully good for us as long as his mind is in the right place and he comes back ready to show them what they missed!

:)
This time we'll get it right - just believe!

Is he being kept out by someone from a "big" club? That could unsettle him if he thought a transfer would further his international chances.

If their performances in the World Cup are anything to go by I'd say they are a poor footballing team which Mass isn't suited to. They certainly looked behind the times in Russia 2018. Much like many aspects of Australian 'culture'.
Come on you Sooopa ........
