It's about an individuals motives and their obvious humane qualities - even you must recognise that. Of course not everyone who doesn't vote for him lacks the same qualities... but a fair few do. People just don't understand or blatantly ignore who the real enemy is. It's a global thing as well. Has always been and always will be unfortunately. I've decided to vote for a Socialist candidate over here in Mid Ulster after a rethink. I believe last time he got about 800 votes... Sinn Fein the real problem over here along with the DUP get 75% of the votes. Like I say it's hard to change things.SheepRanger wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2017 7:26 pmHes a real person who speaks to real people and everyone else are robots. Therefore be careful what you wish for.

Re: General Election
I'd be happy to vote Labour for the tax rises for Education and Health but am not prepared to vote for a man who aligned himself to the IRA, conceeds EU rights to remain hete before getting the same for UK citizens and Im not funding nationslisations. He is weak leader with poor quality colleagues who will stitch us up during Brexit talks.Damien wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2017 4:29 pmIt's about an individuals motives and their obvious humane qualities - even you must recognise that. Im happy to pay more corporation tax but his wider policies are just too much for me. He should have been more selective but wants his wish list in one hit. Big mistake.
I think the needs of the country are greater than his target audience. Although I accept many are struggling I just dont see it on the scale he is implying. Sometimes the just about managing is a huge aspiration for many in this world.

Re: General Election
Surely if the amount of people struggling is on a low scale, then it's shameful that recent governments haven't performed the relatively easy task of making life better for such a small number of people. Or is that too simplistic ?SheepRanger wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2017 5:10 pmI'd be happy to vote Labour for the tax rises for Education and Health but am not prepared to vote for a man who aligned himself to the IRA, conceeds EU rights to remain hete before getting the same for UK citizens and Im not funding nationslisations. Re: General Election
Depends how you define struggling. I dont see wide spread poverty where I live and work. The streets are not littered with beggars and people sleeping rough.
What I do see is the majority having less than they once did but managing after choices are made. I have a wide circle of friends and all are working and have a roof over their heads. Of the two able bodied and minded unemployed I know I wouldnt give them the steam off my p1ss as they are work shy. Of the people I know who need medical assistance they get it when needed. Of the friends I know who have incurred credit cards debts have had these written off through partial bankruptcy. In my line of work those having their houses repossessed have do many laws in their favour and receive council assistance. None of these things are sufficiently bad for me to vote for the 'struggling' and compromise on the other Labour policies that I disagree with.

Re: General Election
I take it you don't live in a city then ? You must occasionally visit London, if only to see the Rsssss. Did you see the lady complaining to Mrs.May about losing her disability benefit ? How do you feel about the charges (£1,200) to get a hearing at an Industrial tribunal ? If you feel you have been unfairly dismissed you're not likely to have that amount going spare are you ? There's been a drop of 70% in cases brought in the last few years. I wonder why ?SheepRanger wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2017 6:10 pmDepends how you define struggling. And yes, the streets of London and other big cities are are littered with people sleeping rough. Young people who have never had the opportunity to be anywhere else.

Of course there are examples that you have called out. I work on London regularly but not well travelled in the area. I will vote on what I see and others will need to go with what they experience. I have been a victim of work placed bullying in the past and quickly found another job and didnt hang around to let the bastards win!
I said I would vote and pay more tax with a better leader and a less wide sweeping socislist agenda. Corbyn could have swung with a scales down wish list....

Re: General Election
Strange how such a mild mannered person has become such bogey man. On the one hand he's too weak to be a leader and yet on the other hand if he was voted in he would destroy the economy. Or is he just used as an excuse ?SheepRanger wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2017 6:48 pmI have expanded my post since you replied.Hunter S Thompson wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2017 6:34 pmI take it you don't live in a city then ? Re: General Election
Putting up corporation rax during Brexit is suicide. We should be encouraging new and existing firms to flourish here not push them to other countries. Corporation tax is a nonsense as these forms plsy employers NI, create jobs and individuals in turn pay employee Ni and income tax. Instead, he should have concentrated on collection activities at current levels. As you can in one of my previous comments my tax bill has gone up due to Tory policies for my one man Ltd firm. Corbyn should focus on collecting from multi national firms by changing rax law not putting up rates that may not be collected. Hes hardly encouraging investment is he....? He believes in a bottom up economy rather than top down. Income takers not creators etc...

Re: General Election
It's surprising how many people have the notion that Mr Corbyn somehow seized the leadership of the Labour party. In fact he was nominated by Margaret Beckett, hardly a wild eyed leftie. Of course it's true that many people became associate members purely to vote for him in the leadership contest.
He is extremely unlikely to be our next PM of course. It's interesting that the LibDems have a rerun of the referendum in their manifesto. This election is the weirdest in modern times.

Re: General Election
I've been trying all day to think of a response to the tory manifesto....but it's so empty, vague and vacuous that I can't think of anything. In that regard at least, it has worked for them. Shades of George Orwell's 1984.
