As we all know Adel was given the No10 shirt today, where does that leave Bothroyd?

He takes another number?

He will be moving on?

He will not get a squad number?

I just can't see what he offers to be honest - one of the occasions on which I was able to be whole-heartedly in agreement with Barton was when he slated Bothroyd for standing around like the proverbial spare pr*ck at a wedding instead of getting involved (let alone "stuck in")

There was chat on the Sheffield Wednesday forums that both him and DJ were going there on loan.

Would make sense with Dave Jones manager there and Bothroyd playing well under him at Cardiff.

Bothroyd hasn't made the step up to the Prem. (yet)

I didn't even see glimpses that he had it in him at this level. I don't think there will be a lot of room in the squad for him this season.

Looking at the quality we have brought in since last summer - Cisse, Johnson, Zamora - all of them having delivered at Premiership level, I think it's a matter of when not if DJ and particularly Jay Bothroyd move on.

Both were Warnock signings, albeit at a time when we were hardly spending any cash, but I'd be surprised if Hughes saw them as part of his plans. DJ was unlucky with injuries, but that's football.

Thanks guys and good luck - the Championship almost certainly beckons for both.

Bothyroyd and DJ will do just fine in the Championship and TBH I dont even think I will be interested in where they end up. Thank you chaps and all that but they were never going to make it in the Premiership.

It's surely not just about "quality" but attitude and mental toughness. Jamie Mackie has shown what it takes to step up. Others clearly haven't.

A little harsh on DJ in particular there Paula? 13 goals for Blackpool the season before last suggested otherwise...

Yes I agree it's time for them both to move on. But maybe we should remember we were very grateful for them to join us this time last year when we didn't have a pot to piss in...

Don't you remember, I've always been a ruthless b!tch Twisted Evil

DJ did very well with Blackpool and IMO he didnt get much of a chance last season. Watching Bothroyd in the Prem on the other hand, was painful.

Bothroyd has been an overpaid bench warmer for most of the season.

DJ just did not click-
right player
wrong time.
we want players who will give 100%
JB and Dj farewell and take that Barton bloke with you when you go!

Uh, DJ already has already 'made it' in the Premeriship, scoring 13 goals with a relegated Blackpool side. As another poster observes, he;s been a victim of injuries and management changes, and certainly deserves another crack at the big time with us, at least as a squad player. I'd be sorry if he was moved on, as I think he can ben an asset in a QPR shirt, and our loss could be another club's gain.

As for Bothroyd, we probably just need to cut our losses. He makes Mark Hateley look purposeful.

I'd like to see Bothroyd given another chance. While he was mostly poor last season I do think he has the potential to be a good prem squad player. He offers us a big man alternative to Zamora, who, let's face it, is likely to pick up a few knocks over the course of the season.
DJ never really made an impact. While he was undoubtedly unlucky with injuries I think AJ takes his squad posi and it's time to offload him to Blackpool (we know Ollie is a huge fan).

Let me quote myself 'DJ did very well with Blackpool and IMO he didnt get much of a chance last season. Watching Bothroyd in the Prem on the other hand, was painful'.
