Very underwhelming. A real opportunity lost to bring in some new young players and give them experience of a big tournament whilst always having Brazil 2014 in mind. I don't think the majority would have minded if Roy had taken the opportunity but instead it's the same old, same old. Terry shouldn't have been included, imo and Carol and Downing?! Carol has had a very poor season and Tim Howard has more goals and assists than Downing this season!

Snap RG. I was hoping for some inspiration as every time there's another insipid England performance I drift further away from any interest in the national team.
Downing? Johnson? Carroll? Defoe? Terry, Fat Frank and Stevie G again? No thanks.
Not convinced personally by Wellbeck either, or Milner.
Poor Crouch and Micah Richards, what do they have to do to play? I thought being picked was about playing and playing well for your team across a season? Most of those highlighted have been poor or don't start regularly plus a few crocks.
I'm afraid I'm underwhelmed with Hodgson's first foray, very.
Glad about Oxlade-Chamberlain but bet he won't start.
For me, that's very similar to the team that crawled out of the wreckage of the last world cup, but still I suppose you have to justify the lucrative Pepsi ads with a few international appearances eh?
He really looked well beyond the "big clubs" didn't he? _________________ Far better is it to dare mighty things, than to dwell in the twighlight that knows neither victory nor defeat - T Roosevelt |

I'm not convinced about the OX. He has been really good when playing but there must be a good reason why Wenger hasn't played him more often. _________________ If Chelsea were playing in my garden, I would close the curtains!

| I suspect Wenger wants to avoid rushing his development and expectation levels are pretty high which requires managing, especially at a club like Arsenal where Ramsey's been booed on occasions this season. That and the Ox gives the ball away a lot according to some Arsenal fans I know. |

I think Carroll came in because of Rooney missing two games, am looking forward to Theo W and Chamberlain helping out Defoe, Carroll in attack, that is if Hodgson will start them, and not wait to go down 1-0 down first. Midfield looks okay. _________________ "If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass a-hoppin"

Same old story. England squad picked by the FA to sell shirts with big names and massage egos. The manager's just there to take the blame when it all goes wrong. One day hopefully a manager will do a Germany and ignore those who are proven to be inadequate and give a chance to other hungry ambitious and proud players. They may not look as good on paper, but paper's done pribbling idle-headed giglet all for England so far. Not winning it is no crime - it's guaranteed either way. But playing with pride will bring a lot of respect from England fans.
Shame on you Woy. I thought you might have had the balls to say no to the FA. Such a relief to be Irish. _________________

I know Rooney is fantastic. So many people keep telling me it is so.
But it seems to me, in recent seasons, manu have slipped from their earlier standards, in the Prem and in Europe. And England have done little to scare anyone.
So could an England without Rooney possibly turn out to be a good thing? |
