Plenty of good beers mentioned here.

Is Bishops Tipple still brewed?

Sober, Silly, Tired was my old drinking routine but Bishops Tipple was so strong that silly got missed out.

I miss the old Young's Special and Winter Warmer.

My pet hate is foreign lagers brewed under license in the UK. We only license the name as the end product bears no resemblance to the original beer other than maybe the colour. I remember a Courage pub emptying when the first barrel of UK Hofmeister was started after a year of the real thing.

I mean the Greeks with all of their troubles brew Amstel under license and that is quite superb.

All: [singing] Rah, rah, rah, we're going to smash the oiks! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Lord Monty: You know, it's a rotten shame. I went to see the Careers Officer in Big College yesterday, and he said all he'd got left is chairman of British Rail! Well, I wanted to be Director General of the BBC.
Lord Snot: Yes, it's rotten, they gave it to Skapper just because he directed our world tour of "Hamlet" and wrote our hilarious revue, "What Ho, Darkie". Honestly, chairman of a nationalized industry -- I'd rather be a Cabinet Minister!
Kendal Mintcake: Well, I'm alright, 'cause my Daddy's bought me the Socialist Workers' Party for my birthday!
Miss Money-Sterling: At least we're going to smash the oiks at Scumbag College in University Challenge.
Lord Snot: We've just got time before my balls drop!

I'm a sequential man. And I was so upset by your first post that I couldn't bring myself to read down for a while.

Greene King. Pah! Get thee to the Euston Tap where you can try cask ales from Thornbridge and Roosters.

To be fair, though, Abbot is (or was) a sponsor of an award with the Telegraph that recognises an excellent - no, wonderful - pub in Newcastle. The Crown Posada. I was in there the other night. Several top beers an Ella Fitzgerald on the record player. No CD nonsense, a proper old record player. Sadly, I won't have a chance to get back there for almost a fortnight.

Oh ...

Young's Ordinary (as it was before the nineties)
Thornbridge 'Jaipur'
Hop Back 'Summer Lightning'

And the list will change every day or so. Sigh.
