Didn't actually know Fawny but will always remember that St Andrew's Cross Avatar appearing and the quality of post which went with it.

My thoughts are with his family and I am sure his presence will be missed in all areas.

RIP Fawny, you will be sadly missed.
I am (mostly) a kind, considerate, caring, understanding, generous and liberal sort of bloke. Except when it comes to football. And I have no wish or will to change that at all. ©DAVEf 06/03/2015

So sad to hear of Fawny's passing. Hope he's in a good place with good company and all the cheese and ale he needs.

Though I never knowingly met him in person, I don't think that matters. His sense of humour and banter shone through on here. He will be missed by so many within this online, virtual community and to his credit, his local community in which he worked.

Thoughts are with his friends and family.

Like White Duck above I haven't been here for a time, and really sad to hear this. One of the best posters of the recent past that I remember talking a lot of sense.

RIP Fawny.

Terrible news. Have always enjoyed his clever witty posts.

Renaming a forum after him sounds a great idea, a lovely tribute in his honour

RIP Fawny. Will surely be missed on

Only just seen this. very sad. I remember a thread about people leaving evening games early. He berated me in a nice way for saying some of us need a few pints and time is precious. He said he loved a drink as much as me but would never leave early. Fair play. I hope a tribute is arranged.

Haven't been on here for a few days so only just seen this as well. Very sad news. Never met him but his posts spoke a lot of sense and were always worth reading.

Haven't been in here for a while - total shock to find this thread today.
There are a few avatars you look out for when scanning threads - helps to sort the "wheat from the chaff".
That St.Andrews cross will be sorely missed.

RIP Fawny.

I've been away for a couple of days and only just learnt of this terribly sad news. I always held Fawny in such high regard as a poster. Certainly seemed like the sort of guy I would have liked to know personally. My thoughts go out to his family.
Question everything.

Always noted Fawny's posts due to his locality to me, but never met him, but from those who have posted and new Fawny, then it was my loss that we never met. Sounds like a thoroughly decent chap. I used to have an office round the corner from his deli, if it is the one I am thinking of, and I am sure it is, and if I had known then that it was owned by an R, then it is just as well I didn't know about it, as I would probably be twice the size that I am now!

Rest in Peace Fawny, you'll be sadly missed.

It speaks volumes about the man that this thread has brought back so many long lost dot.orgers - Alibabes, Sideshow Bob, Goofy Hoop and West Country Ranger to name but a few. What a shame that it should be in such sad circumstances.

RIP Fawny.
