BBC Radio London outside London

Post by nige101uk » Mon Aug 10, 2009 9:17 pm

I posted this back in May 2008 but I thought it might be worth reposting now at the beginning of the season, in case they decide to offer more commentary.

As you know the web feed usually doesn't carry the comms but the Sky feed does. Problem being, outside London it's not on your EPG by default. You have to manually add it.

Here are idiot proof instructions for adding BBC Radio London to your Sky EPG

Go to the 'services' menu and choose option 4 'System Setup'
Then Option 4 again 'Add Channels'

You then need to enter the following information using your remote

Frequency: 11.95350 GHz
Horizontal polarisation
Symbol rate: 27.5 Mbaud
FEC2/3

Then select 'Find Channels'.

You'll then see a list of available channels. Choose BBC London and press the Yellow button to store. A tick will appear next to the channel name.

Press select to save your changes and exit the screen.

To listen to BBC London go back to the 'services' menu and choose option 6 'Other channels' and select BBC London

Enjoy.

Obviously a useful post.

But anyone reading it would have Internet access so why not just listen to Radio London on the BBC iplayer?

Or is there a good reason not to?

Rights restrictions Dave - games are blocked on the internet feed.

If you have Sky tv via satellite it's the Electronic Program Guide. The list of channels you can receive.

Anyone know if you can do a similar thing on Virgin Cable?

Also, please remind me of the FM frequency for BBC London Radio. Is it 94.9MHz?

Does anyone know if it reaches the backwater of Watford? I don't chose to live here it's simply a quirky twist of fate!
Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out.

Sounds as if the problem is on their end - the link for the Flash stream was malformed. Did you get it working in the end?
