Lyndon Dykes watch
The Scottish Sun
Scotland 2 v Austria 2
LYNDON DYKES: One goal in 22 games for Q.P.R. and it showed. Starved of service but every touch he had came with his back to goal - needs to do more at this level. Booked. 5/10

Confirms to me that he should be nowhere near a QPR shirt.

Oh, give me the man a break. Please. He works hard for the team, we've been doing OK with him in the team and I can't think of many other strikers who would be much better at his price. Please don't say Ivan Toney because he went for 10 times more.
Come on you Sooopa ........

1 goal in 22 games is appalling for an out and out striker.old pauline wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 9:46 amOh, give me the man a break. Please. See, I don't really need to mention Toney

Re: Lyndon Dykes watch
I was shocked to see him picked ahead of Che Adams and Oliver Burnie for an important world cup qualifier?

Re: Lyndon Dykes watch
Yeah! 'cos they are so much deadlier in front of goal than Dykes ....
This season:
Dykes: 46 games 10 goals
Adams: 34 games 7 goals
McBurnie: 30 games 1 goal

Dykes was an important part of the Scotland team that qualified for the Euros. Adams is in the squad for the first time, and McBurnie has been woeful for Sheffield United this season. Not really that much of a shock.

Re: Lyndon Dykes watch
I watched the game and although Dykes has played better for Scotland, he wasn't too bad and made his contribution to a good team performance.
To answer your question, Uxbridge, no long throws from Dykes although there was one attempt from someone else which wasn't anywhere near as good as we've seen from our lad.
I've said it before, I still think Dykes will come good. He may not turn out to be a free scoring striker but if played to his strengths, he will add value to our capabilities.

Re: Lyndon Dykes watch
I think there was a substantial fee differential between the two players - if you follow Warbs' comments, the lad is going to be one that requires work and time - patience is sometimes in short supply in football.Andy_N19 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 10:15 am1 goal in 22 games is appalling for an out and out striker.old pauline wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 9:46 amOh, give me the man a break. I will be the minority but I don't follow the hype with Toney - think he has done well this season but I think there are temperament issues with him.

Re: Lyndon Dykes watch
We couldn't afford Toney, so it's a moot point, but 28 goals and 9 assists in 36 Championship games surely amounts to a bit more than hype. I'd happily live with a few yellow cards for that kind of return. He's no Joey Barton.

Agreed, just something about him I am not convinced about - not that this really counts - maybe it is just the team colours he plays in .....

Re: Lyndon Dykes watch
Toney will be playing in the Prem next season ... the only question is will he be playing there with Brentford.

Re: Lyndon Dykes watch
Ivan Toney is just one of a number of good strikers Peterborough United have sold on in recent years such as Dwight Gayle and Britt Assombalonga. This season they've got Jonson Clarke-Harris who is the Division 1 leading scorer.
How come we ended up with Conor Washington?

One of the great imponderables. Would we have seen a different Conor if he had been coached and played in the present team?dm wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 4:26 pmIvan Toney is just one of a number of good strikers Peterborough United have sold on in recent years such as Dwight Gayle and Britt Assombalonga.
