Queens Park Rangers v Watford (match thread)

This could be a long old afternoon folks
Same story over the past 5 years, sucker punched from a set-piece.
We need a defensive coach!

I wonder why Wallace is playing?

Just seen Matt Smith has scored for Millwall. Can't help thinking he might have got on the end of one of these many crosses today.

He's not been great today. He's getting in the right positions but not enough power behind any of his shots. Watford have been good defensively as well to be fair. Whenever they attack they just spilt us open but whenever we go forward the box is full of yellow shirts.

I'm not panicking yet. Watford very likely to go up this year and we've had the better of them for large chunks of the game.

Sucker punch from a set piece, our defender missed the ball, like a golfer with an air shot, hardly a sucker punch

We have been the better team today, agree we look like we will struggle to score, but playing well

Let’s give the young striker a run out soon, he’s wasted with the u23s

Overall a good performance and we put the ball in the net.

Squad looking strong. Difficult to fault Kane recently and Willock is finding his feet.

I presume it's because Hämäläinen played for Finland during the international break.

Possibly, but I'm not sure you can legislate for that kind of wild miskick by Masterson.

Yep, agree bring Charlie Kelman into the 1st team set up coz the present front 2 aren't doing it.
I assume that Willock isn't match fit since he should be a certain starter - very impressed with him.

Assessments:
Dieng - Solid and impressive, no chance with the goal
Kane - Solid, never thought I'd say that about him
Masterson - Did OK, not great for their goal
Barbet - Again did OK but part of the defensive sieve that we have.
Wallace - Should be consigned to the bench
Cameron - Did OK but not really 1st team material if truth be told
Carroll - huffed and puffed but didn't get much done
Osayi-Samuel - Quiet game for BOS up against Premiership standard opposition
Ball - Did OK, nothing spectacular
Chair - Had an up and down game, took his goal very well though
Bonne - Bench material

Subs
Dykes - Knackered from Scotland duty? He has to start doing better
Willock - Along with Dieng our potential find of the season
Kakay - Unlucky not to get on but his time will come again
Hämäläinen - Did very well, obviously picking up technique from Finland too
Bettache - Wouldn't mind seeing him since our midfield can be pedestrian at best
Kelman - Our front 2 aren't delivering so I'd like to see him on for last 10 mins at least
Adomah - Did OK but for such experience over-hit crosses are frustrating

Decent point and a point a piece seemed fair....

We had decent shouts on three penalties,

Barbet was nailed on with I think the ref unsighted.... The lino should have been his eyes on that one IMO
2020/2021.... Keep Calm, no matter the season, we'll follow our team.....

I think we're being a little too negative on this performance. Far from what it might be perhaps, but it was better than I had expected particularly with a few key players out or not starting. In fact, I'd go as far as saying if Dykes ruled out goal had been the winner, we'd have deserved all 3 points.

A pretty good performance against a strong team that also resorted to some rough stuff largely ignored by the ref. We should have had a pen as well.

Well done Rangers. A good result. I expected a spanking.

Overall I think your assessment is pretty harsh. Carroll would be my MOM.
