Dykes... A Proper Number 9

Post by SM » Sun Sep 13, 2020 7:43 am

What did everyone else think?

Obviously it’s early days, but I’m genuinely really excited about this signing. His hold up play was superb (better than Hugill from what I’ve seen), and his work-ethic was just amazing.

That finish for his penalty wasn’t lacking any confidence either...

Looks a great signing!

I agree with all that but lets hope refs do not have a preconceived idea, his yellow card was pretty soft.

Great game for Dykes. Really nice hold up play. Think Chair needs to be further forward and he will score a lot of goals due to Dykes. If we sign a striker who works well with flick ons or through balls we will be doing well

What's not to like. He's everything we need for the system we play and I think he has the potential to be a better player than Hugill.

Warburton said recently something to the effect that he'd like to get striker in who could play off him. That would give us excellent formation options.

As a proper number 9 - he needs crosses from wide to feed off. We have players who can do that, but so far seem not to want to do it.
