Done a quick google and the fee was undisclosed (transfermarkt indicates €100,000), but he was 19, had come through from the Blackpool in who had just been promoted to League 1. Given we had tightened the belt massively that season (2017), it was a great bit of business by Ollie.
...and he has progressed from a "runner" into a "football player" in these years...hope that our scouts can find another one cos that is the kind
of player that I like....fast on the wing and cutting in....so hard to stop and able to create chances.
Shodipo perhaps? Seems to be getting over his injury issues and is clearly rated by the club.
He's 23 years old and has just over 20 Championship games under his belt. The words "clutching" and "straws" come to mind.

A player is only worth what a buyer will pay.... and isn't this a second offer?
How do we know someone won't offer more if we stand our ground ? It's not as if the transfer window closes tomorrow, after all. BOS and Eze are the two most exciting young players we've had in years. If we can't get decent money for these two, then we're wasting our time with the current model. We regularly see the likes of Brentford and Bristol City selling players for £10/15/20M. We get less than £5M and everyone shrugs their shoulders. Thoroughly depressing.

We're not selling the player, we're selling a year of his contract. We don't OWN the player. I think almost 5m for a young unproven player with 1 year left on his contract is good business.

It''s long-established football parlance to talk about selling players, but OK, I'll rephrase the question. How do the likes of Brentford and Bristol City regularly pull in fees of £10-£20M for the remaining years of unproven young players contracts ?

Leeds got £10M for Jack Clarke just last year. Clarke is admittedly younger, but BOS has a lot more games under his belt. Would you rather have Clarke or BOS in your team just now, and is the former really worth twice the latter ?

In today's world any club who had shown an interest in BOS would have been fully aware of the situation and none were willing to pay more than FC Brugge so off he goes. Good luck BOS.

The thing is he undoubtedly has talent, but there have been too many games where he didn't show it. That surging run down the wing on Tuesday night, beating the defender for pace before cutting in and putting a telling cross into the box. How often has he done that this season? The simple answer is - not enough. If he had, there would be a scramble for his signature and the money would be a lot more than £5 million Euros. Six goals is OK, but again if it was into double figures we would be talking a bigger fee.

So, 5 million Euros is what has been offered, and no bidding war ... that tells the story. It doesn't matter how much we as fans think he's worth, there's only one bidder, and BOS doesn't want to stay.

There may have been a bidding war we don't know. Hopefully there is an add on or two as a part of the deal.

It appears that there is no bidding war as the player has made it clear that he wants to join the Belgian Champions so it would have to be an outrageous offer to alter his mind.

Bruges bid for him before lock down and we turned them down, 5 million is their improved offer.

He will have had other offers but Champions League football is certainly enticing and with his pace he will make an impact at some point.

Luke Freeman actually did us a favour signing a contract extension making Sheff Utd pay £5M... Will always think well of Luke for that

Charlie Austin went cut price as his contract was running out in the summer....

how much did we want..... £12M? I think one club sniffed around (Leicester City) and Charlie didn't fancy a relegation battle again (ironically they won the premier league that season!) but his heart was already set on Southampton

I think we got £4M as he wasn't willing to sign an extension similar I assume to BOS now...

Should we wait until the January window and he can go for less while we wait for this higher bid?

If the club suits him and the price suits us.. I'm happy with the price
2020/2021.... Keep Calm, no matter the season, we'll follow our team.....

Maybe we could have waited until the July window opened.

I really don't think it would have made any difference, one or two clubs might have re evaluated but whilst we are waiting for that Brugge have got impatient and bought someone else.

We have made a very good profit which is exactly the clubs current remit. We move on.

Should we have extended Pugh's and Hall's contracts till the end of July?

Same principle but there maybe reasons like there's (contract clause's) why we need the money in the bank now preparing for next season
(which is just around the corner) rather than waiting for this supposed bidding war for BOS...
