Best foreign XI (not including Republic of Ireland)

Post by old pauline » Wed Apr 29, 2020 8:48 pm

This has probably been done before but I'm bored so I make no apologies for doing it again. Additionally I'm sure there are players I've forgotten (like the cracking centre back that we signed on loan from Watford at the same time as Daniel Tozser) but I cannot look through all our records so here we go:

Jan Steskal
Mauricio Isla
Gino Padula
Damiano Tommassi
Danny Shittu
Kaspars Gorks
Akos Buzsaky
Ale Faurlin
Adel Taraabt
Loic Remy
Heidar Helgusson
Come on you Sooopa ........

No Eduardo Vargas?

Good shout on the first two. Couldn't justify GC though.

What about wide men ? Have we had any ? Seems all our wingers have either been English or Eire

Angella?
I don't remember him living up to the hype really, although he wasn't bad. I think Barbet has probably looked better and our form with and without him suggests that. Is it cheating to count Maddix, he'd be ahead of both of those? Before my time but Ardiles had a brief spell, didn't he? I love Gino but that was a pretty low standard we were playing at. Isla didn't really work out but he's clearly a good player.

You could make a superb team of players who were good at other clubs and largely average to shit for us for a variety of reasons.

Cesar

Bosingwa
Samba
Mbia

Park
Sandro (injuries being a huge issue)
Fer
Krancjar (by no means the worst)
Hoilett

Vargas
Zarate

I can't believe there is no place for Tamas Priskin in that team.

Also I'm not sure you can dress Bob Malcolm up as a foreigner. You could have given him Messi's left peg, Ronaldo's six pack and Roberto Baggio's pony-tail but he'd still would have been a crock of shite.

Damion Stewart would be a good shout if he were not tied up at the African Cup of Nations....

It's got to have Alessandro Pellicori in there

He's was gonna be our 20 goal a season striker according to Giani
2019/2020.... Keep Calm, no matter the season, we'll follow our team.....

Agreed, that was an oversight. As was Bob Malcom, sorry Ugo you've been dropped again.
