46 points

Post by Danish Ranger » Wed Feb 26, 2020 6:25 am

Following the hard earned victory last night, we are now on 46 points

Over the last two decades, teams with 46 points have stayed up in most seasons

In 2002/3 and in 2008/9 respectively Sheffield W and Norwich ended up third from bottom and were relegated on 46 points

The extremes happened in 2003/4 and 2012/13 where respectively Walsall and Peterborough went down on 51 and 54 points

I will not tempt faith and claim we are safe, but I will say the team have - by far - exceeded my expectations this season. Long may it last aniclap

We're 10 points off the play-offs.

77 points is attainable if we win the remaining 11 games.

This ought to guarantee a Top Six finish.

Facetiousness aside, I think we're more likely to go up than down... I've not given relegation a thought all season to be honest.

I've not given us going up a thought to be honest. We're playing good football, but we're a long way off the play offs. A finish above 16th and I'll be happy, but ideally I'd like to see top 10

Warburton (and the team) have done very very well. What they have done well is that when their have been dips and poor runs they have re-grouped and stood up to the plate. I must also mention the other coaching staff (e.g. John Eustace, Chris Ramsey etc) because no doubt they have also done good jobs.

Not that I'm worried about us, but I think it's likely to need more than 46 points to stay up this season. Of the bottom seven clubs, only Middlesbrough haven't won at least two of their last five games. It looks to me like at least 50 points may be needed to guarantee survival.

Only last week? it was how long has Warburton got....

There was widespread condemnation after the January transfer window shut that no signings were made to replace the likes of Toni and Nakhi especially...

Now he's seemingly the messiah again....

A week (or two) in football is a long time it seems...
2019/2020.... Keep Calm, no matter the season, we'll follow our team.....

Yes indeed. I don't suppose it'll be long before some say “ 'ere, glad we got shot of that Nahki Wells, 'e 'asn't scored for Bristol yet “

Oh he has scored but he doesnt have the KPFS FOUR Musketeers (Eze, Chair, BOS and Manning) setting up the chances for him anymore....

We were spoilt earlier on this season when they were all on form!

Playoffs, let's calm down a bit.

We've got a fairly good run in, between that, our decent form in the last 4 games and points obtained so far we should be ok, it's not been a major worry this year, which is a credit to the job done. But we've seen how easily a bad run results can become prolonged and send you into the mire every season for a while. So i hope this year we can finish top half, which would be a huge result given i certainly felt us more likely to go down than not. It would help us take some momentum into next season as fans and players alike, something we haven't done for a few years with our regular poor end of season results

..this is a very unpredictable - and fun to watch - team.....so everything can happen....we are able to create plenty of chances but also to concede stupid silly goals....anyway I must say that I am enjoying coming to LR this season much more than the recent 2 or 3 ....

That was one person and he got shot down pretty quickly as I recall. That detractor aside I think everyone was behind Warburton despite losing 3 or 4 on the spin.

...well...this season even when we lost, most of the time we played a good football....I still remember Bristol away where before they scored on their first chance we would have deserved to be in front...and away at Cardiff (I was not there)...but we lost 0-3 when we created more chances and should have won...So ...we get "entertained" and that is nice to watch....especially now that we are getting points behind our performances...

The sides at the bottom seem to be hitting a bit of form, this may be one of those seasons where over 50 points are required to stay up. That said, I'm confident that we can surpass that total.

I think Blackburn also went down with 51 points 2 or 3 seasons ago.
