Coming home to roost, be afraid, be very afraid
A chance, just a chance this will screw up a few plans, and arguably, rightly so
.Meanwhile, the English Football League is to conduct independent valuations regarding the sales by Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading of their own grounds to their owners in similar deals.

They need to look at the Rooney sponsorship deal too.

Just seen this in the Times, They are saying Derby's ground is worth considerably less than the amount shown in their assets, let alone the doubling of the amount that they did when they sold it.

Not so much a loophole as a fraudulent declaration of fair market value. The Rooney sponsorship deal needs close scrutiny too IMO.

It was on the BBC website Satch,
here's the link:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49600851
I think this will be big news over the coming weeks/months as the respective clubs start to wriggle and get their arguments sorted, but in reality?
They're a "busted flush".....
I suspect other news outlets will have it in the press over the weekend as the story grows, bloody obvious when it happened and disappointing only other clubs supporters were raising it as an issue as opposed to the PL / EFL etc at the time.

Very little chance of anything happening against these 'big' clubs. The EFL want to be seen to be doing something but it will probably lead to the loophole being closed and nothing else.

There isn't a loophole. It was a fraudulent declaration of the fair market value of the stadium. I don't think Steve Gibson is going to let slide by either, he wants sanctions. They have just fined Huddersfield for what was no more than an advertising joke which backfired, I can't see fraudulent FFP claims being ignored. They may close the loophole which allows Rooney to be sponsored by a betting company, thereby covering his real wages whilst Derby pay him a very basic salary to stay within FFP regulations.White Duck wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 10:15 amVery little chance of anything happening against these 'big' clubs. Surely the EFL have come to realise they have become a laughing stock. FFP is honoured more in the breach than the observance by the bigger clubs and needs to be addressed.
Given our better than expected start on the pitch and the likelihood that some of these clubs will be taken to task, I feel a lot better about the season ahead of us.

Not quite sure what the EFL can do about this, but this area definitely needs looking at.
FFP is supposedly about protecting the clubs long-term interests. Derby have done the complete opposite, yet somehow are viewed as compliant.
I would absolutely love the EFL to throw the book at them.

What they can do Saf, is to apply the sanctions relating to the fair market value estimations. I believe this is covered by section 8 of the leagues rules and regulations.SM wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 9:28 amNot quite sure what the EFL can do about this, but this area definitely needs looking at.

Ther is also the matter of the Club Charter introduced last Summer whereby the EFL have a "commitment to run EFL Clubs to the highest possible standards in a professional manner and with the utmost integrity."

Hmm, fine words butter no parsnips. I imagine Derby and the rest of them will get away with it while if we overspend by three pence, they'll be on us in two shakes of a crying baby.Esox Lucius wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 9:40 amTher is also the matter of the Club Charter introduced last Summer whereby the EFL have a "commitment to run EFL Clubs to the highest possible standards in a professional manner and with the utmost integrity."
