Sheff Weds match thread

Post by White Duck » Fri Aug 30, 2019 5:02 pm

Team for tomorrow? Looks like Cameron and Amos probably won't be risked which is a shame but we can't afford to rush them back too early as they are both important first team players for us. Would love to see three at the back but expect the following:-

-----------------Lumley-----------------
Rangel-----Hall--Barbet-----Manning
------------Scowen---Smith-------------
Eze--------------Chair--------------BOS
-----------------Hugill------------------

The deeper lying two is a bit of a problem with Cameron and Amos still out and we need those who've covered to do better. Ball splits opinion but I think his form is marginally better than Scowen and he doesn't habitually present the opposition with an invitation to score. Smith will probably get the nod over Owens, though some felt Owens did quite well on Wednesday.

Not sure whether Amos is an 'important' player, last time I watched him he was p!ss-poor and
received dogs abuse from most in Ellerslie.

I think Ball has to play if Cameron and Amos are out. Seen some comments against him but mostly that he offers nothing going forward, but I don't think he was brought in for that.
I'd play Smith with him, but Warburton seems very keen to play him further up the pitch for some reason, so I think it might be Scowen.

No he didn't: what are you talking about? If you mean v Swansea he went off injured after they scored the first goal after half an hour so why would 'most' of Ellerslie have given him dogs abuse when we were drawing 0-0? If you mean v Bristol City in the cup then he came on as a sub for the last half hour so very unlikely the crowd would've turned on him as we were urguing the team on to find an equaliser.

Warburton seems to want to stem the goals today with three CBs. I don't have a problem with that. BOS loses out on a starting birth for obvious reasons but should we need to reform to chase the game, he's a good option.

Unless both Hall and Ball are at the base of midfield and Wells wide. I’d be surprised if away from home he’s play Chair and Eze in a centre midfield 3. Would be a big ask of Rangel to play wing-back.

Will be interesting to see how the team do with three at the back for the whole game: Ball in the Cameron role and no sign of Smith. Good to see Warburton mixing it up a bit: lets hope it works!

I don’t think it would be a disaster. Pretty sure Barbet played their a fair bit for Brentford and Manning could do a decent enough job next to Ball.

Did Smith get a knock or is he completely dropped?
