Scowen left out, only change

Post by nic » Sat Aug 17, 2019 1:27 pm

Shame for him but can’t say I am surprised. He does offer energy but not positional sense or that many goals, and we may now have better options.

Over to Smith.

0-1 HT so surely time to put Chair on, probably for Smith who looked a bit Tom Carrolly to me in the cup game.

We seem to be playing a nicer style of football...but we still don't seem to have a of of threat in front of goal. A "Work in progress" hopefully. We don't do many clean-sheets either - which always makes scoring more vital. Early days :)

It is a work in progress, but it's been a hallmark of the side not to
offer a goal threat.

Lumley messes up - and not for the first time. Never fills me with confidence TBH...especially playing it out from the back. Time for Kelly to be given a chance maybe?

Sounds like Bristol City have decided that physicals was the best way to combat our style of play and ref not getting to grips with it - hopefully we will give them a warm welcome one in the return fixture.

I hate Ashton Gate. Glad it's out of the way for this season.

Nice early "reality check" for us all. Until we score more and cut out the mistakes at the back - a top half finish is beyond us. If MW can keep us out of the bottom six(and I wasn't expecting anything else TBH) - he has done his job IMHO. Two homes now to get over this one.

I did notice against Stoke he got lucky a few times flapping at arial balls, bit of a concern if its a regular thing, Hopefully they’ll work on it in training.

I would have bitten your hand off for 4 points from our first three games, 3 points from two toughish away games & now a couple of homes coming up.

Maybe mix it up a bit in the next game plenty of options to hand which is something I didn’t envisage over the summer.

No disgrace in going down 0-2 to Bristol City, the next two home games will give us a better idea of how we shape up.

because he only let in three against a weaker Bristol City side?

No keeper would have stopped those goals - and he won us the match with the pen save.
Lumley needs to know he isn't irreplaceable. Too soon yet maybe - but too many more flaps at the ball...and Kelly should be given a chance.

Lumley looks nervous when under pressure. On the bright side though BOS looks like one of the fastest players in the division with the skill to mstch.
We didn't look too bad today. We look like a decent.mid-table side. Considering all the goings om thst is a pretty mean feat.
