Post by deadendjob » Sat May 18, 2019 8:22 pm

It's that time of year. One thread to rule them all etc.

Doesn't sound likely, especially as he is a right back.
WLS doesn't seem to think much of the rumor either:
Football Insider claim Rangers, who face financial restrictions, have Darnell Furlong and Osman Kakay, and have offered Angel Rangel a new deal, are looking to sign the 27-year-old Wales international.

Martin Olsson, Leroy Fer, Luciano Narsingh, Wilfried Bony and Wayne Routledge all released by Swansea..

There’s a LB in there & a decent all round striker plus two ex R’s that could probably do a job..

Wages? :(

I would love to see the Bony of old at QPR but I fear the wages for all those mentioned would be a stumbling block. Routledge maybe, if he was feeling generous. :-)

Yes, the Bony of old would be good. Routledge, yes but we have good young players vying for that position. Fer ? Dear God no. Anyway, as stated above they would be expecting more than the Rangers can pay.

Most of those must be on serious wages - of those named, Olsson would bring some great pace at left back but, thinking he and the others will be Harrod's shopping whereas we will be looking at a different budget.

Rangel signing would sort right back out with Furlong who could also cover centre half - think we need another centre half starter, as Grant Hall seems on a long road back to be able to make a full season.

A mixture of serious wages, age and injury prone to boot.

Don't expect any of them to be playing for us next season.

Bony has been a shadow of the player he was since moving to Citeh and failing.

Nobody wants Fer back then??

Olsson is exactly the type of player we should have been signing when we were in The Premier League and he was with Norwich in The Championship.

I really liked Routledge when we got promoted, not signing him was a major error but Flávio didn’t want to spend. Not sure about now.

Ah, Leroy Fer......”there stands a man who's won his spurs in battle, the butcher he, and all the others cattle” Apologies to Bertolt Brecht. Fer would break out in a muck sweat at the mere thought of running for the ball or making a tackle. I hope we never see his like at the Rangers again.

Leroy Fer, not quite in the Boswinga, Park or Samba mode but one of the reasons we are where we are ATM.

Glasgow Rangers are rumoured to be after Seny Dieng: https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/foo ... ard-230519 That would be disappointing as he'd go on a free being out of contract. I thought he might be promoted to the first team squad next season, perhaps even as no. 2.

Aren't they struggling with the bullshit that is FFP even worse than us? Surprised if they could afford his wages.

FFP at Championship level may lead to quite a few players having to re-evaluate their market worth. Being paid more money a week than many people earn in a year for being an OK footballer, but nothing special just does not work.

That's a very good point, and if correct may actually mean that FFP is having the desired effect. Football overall may need to recalibrate its parameters? Sorry, going a bit off thread...
