Dani Parejo

Post by kernowhoop » Thu May 09, 2019 7:06 am

He captains Valencia, against Arsenal tonight. His stay here was 'interesting', he says. It is a pity that we had a talent like that in our hands and did not know how to make the best of it (anyone remember that League Cup match in the pouring rain at Swindon in 2008? Ledesma was the star that day, but, Parejo won a lot of praise, too). But... it happens and we have all moved on.

Away to Villa in the cup, Stewpeas with the winner IIRC, and Parejo was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.

You could see that he was a quality player but he was just struggling to adapt to the pace/style of the game here.

Great to see him doing so well.

Remember his debut at home to Sheffield Wednedsay, first game of the season.

Came on with about fifteen minutes to go and started pinging all these wonderful passes around. Now that he is older and wiser he might fair better in The Championship although I have this nagging feeling that he might not be overly keen to return.

He had quality, no doubt, but also, at the age of 19 or 20 to move and play in the Championship, he must have bottle too.

Many more experienced players really struggle to cope with the English game, in any division.

On the losing side versus Arsenal last night, but, he looked a very classy player.

Has had a much better career than Ledesma who made a good impression in his short time with us:

I'll always remember what a great game this was with both of them playing:-

I remember that game, too. It poured with rain and we were on Stratton Bank (the open end of the County Ground). I think I was huddled under a small umbrella - OK for fans, when there is room, but not for the manager of England, at Wembley.

Haha yes it was pissing down: I was happy to be in the covered seating next to the away end!

Wonderful night for him to lift the Copa Del Rey for Valencia against Lionel Messi's Barcelona...

Well done Dani....
