Based on what ? He's had less than a season in management.
Spot on. There are better candidates out there
Would be more of a gamble than some of the safer choices for sure, also had the experience of Graeme Jones with him at West Brom. Would prefer him to a lot of the names on the bookies' lists.
Exactly, would much prefer him to Sherwood, who was topping the bookies list before. And Bowyer. And Ainsworth, to be honest.
Realistically, anyone is going to be a gamble. We've just had the most experienced manager we could hope for, and it didn't work out.

Rui looks a decent prospect.
How about Big Sam.
Sorry in advance.

I wondered about Big Sam too. I guess in the same no-nonsense mould as Warnock and maybe what we need and he needs to rebuild his career. Football may not be attractive but should be effective.

The betting is bunching up now: Timmy no longer odds on, Darren Moore, Gareth, Almeida and Warburton all 8/1 or lower. Lee Bowyer drifted out.

Admittedly those are better candidates than we had before. Although, Mark Warburton's the only real experienced managed from that lot.
Darren Moore's only had one season in charge, Almeida's come outta left field and has no decent level exp, Gareth's not had any higher level exp.

Ramsey part 2.

-Will have matured and learnt from mistakes
-Loyal servent
-Knows the club inside out
-Is already on the pay roll

Add a decent coaching staff and it might work.
Agree. I suspect a lot won’t.

The timing of his firing was the least deserved of all our recent managers. The expectation of TF was an immediate Premier league return and that has proved difficult for most relagated teams in recent years. He knows the youth set up inside out. Surely, that is a huge + given our current business plan.

No question, game and media management will have to improve, but hopefully he will have, as you say,“matured and learnt from mistakes”

If he does get another opportunity, the biggest question is whether he would be given enough time and a chance to succeed.

Hm... there's a lot more rumours surfacing about Rui Almedia.

Here are his managerial stats

Seems like a big step up for him, so it's hard to know if he'll be able to do so.

Speaks six languages including English so maybe some legs in this - don't think I am drawn to any of the candidates especially, barring Wild Thing for his Rangers links.

If you think back to Gigi Di Canio, there was a feel good factor which came with his football - albeit there were some defensive issues!

Would be interested to know how this chap came on to our radar.

What's Gary Penrice doing these days? Maybe he is scooting new managers for us?

I suspect the Rui Almeida thought process went something like this: “we’ve tried everything else, why don’t we go for a young, up and coming, hungry foreign manager like Huddersfield done that one time? What’s that, no up and coming foreign manager will come to us? Never mind, let’s just go for a foreign manager.”

That made me laugh. And it probably shouldn't have, because I suspect it's dangerously close to the truth.

You know what, I'd be delighted with that. But I suspect others wouldn't.

How about a management team of Shaun Derry and Clint Hill?

True, although Rui Almeida does point to somebody potentially with fresh ideas and an injection of energy which
has been lacking.
