Will any more players leave this transfer window?

Post by White Duck » Tue Jan 29, 2019 6:13 pm

Just seen we have loaned out an U23 player to a team in the Spanish 3rd division which is a bit random: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/under-23s-ne ... nish-move/

Do we think we are likely to either sell or loan anyone else out in the next few days?

David Mc reckoned the club wanted to find loans out for Goss, Chair, Kakay, Hamalainen, Oteh and Phillips. With just two days to go, it would be surprising if all of them got a club.

I'd be surprised if we were looking to loan Oteh or Kakay as they're needed as cover, Chair would make sense but is also around the first team. The other's would be ideal candidates.

Rumoured to be £0.5m no official figure was released.

Really? If say half the teams in the EFL would happily take him on loan for the rest of the season. There's still a shred of credibility there from his Man Utd days. Ok he hasn't found his place at QPR but the basis of a very decent footballer is still there.

Did quite well at Glasgow Rangers. Very popular with the fans. Obviously things have changed since Gerrard took over.

My memory is that he started well but they went off him fast, i think maybe he looked good when they were doing well and less so when they weren't ( i recall hearing that he had a mare in the OFD).

I do hope we can get him out on loan or even take a look at him at left back (given we might have an position to fill soon). From what little i've seen of him he seems most similar to Faurlin which isn't a position that coaches and managers in England seem to favour, preferring deeper players to either be out and out ball winners or be able to cover a lot of ground and push forward a bit more. Has anyone seen much of him in the youth team?

I was clearly very wrong about Oteh going, it's right for him but leaves us very short.

I'm quite surprised that both Oteh and Smyth have gone out on loan. Hemed hasn't really produced the goods yet and Matt Smith is clearly only a Plan B option. I don't see any other young strikers coming through. The other U.23 strikers seem a bit hit and miss. I hope the club know what they are doing.

I think we are fine for strikers as we only play one of them in the system SMc prefers. Hemed will be fit again soon and Smith is a decent option on the bench. Realistically Oteh would hardly play assuming Wells stays fit so playing regularly in League One should benefit everyone.

Chair apparently off to Stevenage on loan for the rest of the season. Last day of the window so looks like we hang on to Eze and Freeman whom we feared may be the target of bigger clubs.

This is what we have for the rest of the season:

Lumley
Ingram
Kakay
Rangel
Furlong
Lynch
Leistner
Hall
Bidwell
Scowen
Cameron
Wzsolek
Cousins
Luongo
Manning
Freeman
Eze
BOS
Wells
Smith
Hemed
Goss

I think we have enough in defence and midfield but in attack we should really have 4 potential centre forwards (as I expect, most other clubs have). We might see Eze or BOS playing in attack at some stage.

Hemed doesn't have the pace of Wells or Oteh so it would be quite a difference in how we play. It's a big ask for Wells and risk imo but obviously will suit Oteh and give us an idea of if he could be our first choice sooner rather than later.

If Wells was unfit I'd be more than happy with Hemed in his place: he offers a different kind of threat to Wells.
