Fouls on Eze

Post by PeterS » Sun Oct 28, 2018 9:19 am

Dean Smith went on about systematic fouls on Grealish but Iwould love to see the stats for fouls on Eze - relentlessly fouled.

Eze fouled 7 times and Grealish 5 apparently.

Both players are rare talents in this league and are very comfortable in possession and aren't always looking to move the ball at the first opportunity: they are therefore bound to get tackled and fouled more than most.

Grealish played deeper than Eze so got the ball more and would've been tackled more: he also looked less threatening.

Down to the excellent work by Cameron and Luongo who, I would hazard a guess, were told to sit on him and starve Villa's supply to the forwards. Luongo did a similar job on Bannon against Wednesday, both times forcing them deep into their own half where their technical superiority was mostly nullified.

Quite right - quite the reverse if anything. Our eye-opening 23 fouls to their 12 tells part of the story of the game. No more Messrs Nice Guys, that's for sure.

I think that's a big difference between the QPR of last season and this. For all the plaudits Scowongoman got they were out muscled on too many occasions. Cameron is now the physical presence we needed in CM and we seem tougher all round the park.

Eze’s Performance against villa reminded me of taraabt at his best in the premier league for us. I.e. not running the game like he did in the championship but making the ball stick, getting fouled and disrupting the opposition’s flow, keeping possession and giving us the potential for a moment of magic.

It was such a mature performance and his touch is unreal.

Stoke view of Eze yesterday,

“QPR won’t have him for long”

“Best player on the pitch”

Fair play to them - some really nice comments about him, and you wonder what else the positive approach we have to taking on new youth players will roll out next, after Exe and Lumley.

I see in recent under 23s that Des Walker's boy is finding the net a few times, and is Dennis Wise's boy back on trial with us?

Chair & Oteh should be going out on loan soon and I can see them doing well. The one I like the look of most is Deshane Dalling and I really hope we get to see him in the first team before too long. We have so many good youngsters in the U23's right now and that is well done to Paul Hall and his coaches. The club hasn't looked this healthy in many a year.
