McClaren NOT happy with the squad's attitude

Post by Don Gibbons » Sat Oct 20, 2018 7:48 pm

.
It's worth listening to the 3minute 43second interview with our boss:

https://www.qpr.co.uk/videos/interviews ... t-ipswich/

In the interview there are repeated signs of frustration with how SLOW the progress has been:

"SLOWLY but surely, they're making progress"

"At the moment, they're making SMALL steps forward"

"Tuesday it's up to us.. & the players in there.. as to how far THEY want to go.. still a long way to go.. but we're SLOWLY moving forward"

For me there's a clear sense of turmoil between management & squad which is either:
  • a great reflection of Steve's determidness, or
  • surprising given the senior figures at hand (Rangell, Cameron, Baptiste, Hemed etc)

I think he is just a bit frustrated like us, in that he sees some talented players... not fully realising their potential. Nothing sinister in it. He will have to be patient like the rest of us as the "Good ship QPR" turns slowly around. 8)

It's a silly (and I presume tongue in cheek) header. I'd say, on the basis of that interview, S Mc is being very 'professional' himself in taking the focus away from him and inviting/challenging the players to step closer to the plate in the weeks ahead. He needs his strikers to start delivering a few goals, which we're entitled to expect now they've had a few games and should be in the groove. Let's hope they do!

I just interpret it as SmC tempering expectations....no criticism of squad attitude at all

Quoted in this morning's paper as saying there's more to come from these players. I should hope so mate, it's only October !

My thoughts as well. Just playing things down to stop people getting carried away :)
