Just got back

Post by ZENITH R » Tue Oct 02, 2018 10:45 pm

Spending the week in Wiltshire, so took the opportunity for my first trip to the Majeski stadium.

Not a brilliant match, but a win is a win. Reading offered little, although they did hit the inside of the post. Apart from that they didn’t really look like scoring. Having said that neither did we, and for much of the game I thought it had 0-0 written all over it. Fortunately we scored a scruffy goal mid way through the second half. The ball pinged around their area, was kicked off the line, and eventually fell to the BFG who smashed it home.

I think Reading could be in for a long hard season, as could we.

My motm ... Cousins. Worked hard and got stuck in, without resorting to fouling.

Up front we created very little, and when we did, poor decision making or ponderous thinking meant the half chance was gone. We really do need to develop a cutting edge. For me playing BOS and Pav would give us width to stretch defences and maybe create some chances for our strikers. Wells worked hard for little reward (again) and Hemed was a late sub, but didn’t really do anything.

Still another 3 points towards avoiding relegation, so I’m going to bed happy.

Many thanks Zenith, to be honest this isn't enough to quieten our concern at
the teams obvious shortcomings.

Width? I'm sure QPR managers think wingers will fall of the edge of the world if they play them and they get too near the touchline - best to stay nice and narrow at all times!

And this from a club that's featured some wonderful wingers over the years: Dave Thomas, Ian Stewart, Lee Cook, Andy Sinton, Wild Thing, to name just a few. And, er, Michael Meaker (or was he a midfielder)?

Careful, Andy, 'concerns' mutate immediately into 'whines' in kramaland.

How about Mark Lazarus, Don Rogers, or the Morgan twins, Ian and Roger. ...or don't your many many years of "supporting" QPR go back that far? whistle

I'm seriously beginning to worry about the state of your mental health! (You certainly make me sick.)

Thanks for the report Zenith!!!!. Sounds like a turgid affair, but a win, and an away win at that, is just fantastic.

If we keep on accumulating points I'm sure the confidence, and standard of play, will improve markedly.

Keep the faith, guys and girls

You'd worry if you had nothing to worry about.

Beating a crap-arse side with a very lucky goal does not constitute
any turning of any corner or me bringing out the bunting. ethink

I don’t think it was a very lucky goal. A scramble yes, but for once we got bodies in the box, and as it ping ponged about, it fell to Leistner who hit a firm strike through the crowd in front of him.

That was a well struck struck goal and to call it lucky is churlish in the extreme. Luck was when Reading hit the inside of the post and didn't go in.

Better a result like last night than losing to a crap arse side as we often do.
Better to win ugly than lose prettily imho !
