As for Smyffy, McClaren's apparent dislike of him is another problem...
Where's the evidence that McClaren doesn't 'like' Paul Smyth?

Smyth started one game in four in the second Half of last Season under Holloway.

He's started one in five League games under Mc.Claren.

So no great difference.

The reality is that Smyth is a 20-year old talent still learning his trade, so unlikely to be a regular starter. Much the same as Oteh, Owens, Chair, Hamalainen, Phillips, Fox etc

Apparently, last night's 11 changes was, bar post war fixtures, the first time that's been done in the club's history.
Might suggest that the squad is deeper & stronger than many believed two games ago
Including the manager presumably, since he was crying out for reinforcements.

By his own admission Hall won't play on Saturday.

You can't seriously think Chair should or even could play in that position?

Originally I was going to drop Hemed and put Chay Tilt in and move Eze up but thought there may be a number of games that Hemed has to play if we have him on loan or somesuch.

Bettache showed sufficient promise to warrant a starting berth ahead of Eze.

Interesting....I wonder if such strictures apply to loans. I do know that Palace are offering loan players to League 1 and below teams free. I imagine that's free of a fee and the recipient club would have to pay the whole wage. The quid pro pro is that the players would have to play regularly.

The evidence that McClaren doesn't rate Smyth comes from (a) trying to loan him out and (b) not picking him to start in our Reserve XI last night. That'll do.

Kakay seems to be reasonable at going forward, but defensively he's poor. Reminds me of ol' Armand.

Blimey, Bettache must be some player since by common consent Eze is the most promising
youngster at the club - I'll keep a look out for the lad then.

Part of the premise for ousting Ollie and reeling in SM was the development of the young players. So far,

Smyth - hardly featured, and now rumoured to be going out on loan
Manning - season-long loan
Chair - sit on it!
Kakay - blooded then dropped
Ingram - ditto
Hamalainen - who?
Oteh - vanished

Either these bright young things were/are not all they were cracked up to be, or the manager isn't, or both, it would seem. Why the board could not have flogged our keeper, brought in the two new strikers and kept us the 'must leave LR' campaign with Ian at the helm is frankly beyond me, but then QPR usually is.
