QPR vs Charlton

Post by Devonranger » Sun Jul 08, 2018 7:41 pm

So we drew 3-3 - goals from Eze, Washington and Baptiste.

Two different teams each half and good to see us scoring goals even if we had to come from behind each time - need time to adjust with the departures of Smithies, Onouha and Robinson.

Sounds like Ingram may have performed better than Lumley and seems a good workout for the team on a 4-1-2-3 formation, with Luongo still to come back in.

Read that we looked shaky at the back which didn't surprise me entirely with Lynch and Hall not playing. Personally I'd like to see another footballing centre back signed. We need another quality signing to boost what we have. If we don't get another quality player in we may get a bit flat.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Wheeler can do. I've got a good feeling about him.
Come on you Sooopa ........

The one report I saw on another site indicated Leistner looked ok as did Phillips - fair rating for Furlong too - think the midfield mix is where Schteve needs to get it right too.

Being Exeter based the feedback I have on Wheeler is that he is a good sort - decent in the air for a wide player and probably will give us something different on the right of a front three.

If, Schteve could get a tune out of Conor then we might not need to much other than defensive reinforcements- another CB sounds right given Hall and Lynch not guaranteed fitness wise.

If Chris Martin comes in and works in line with the rest of the team then he could be a decent signing - belies his lump like appearance with some quite sharp link play.

There are highlights on the Offish. We look very poor.
I really wouldn’t read too much into it.

Aside from fitness, it’s very difficult to take anything from these kind of games.

Indeed had we won 6-0 what would that mean?

We are all of a sudden title contenders..

I detest pre season it’s so going through the motions.

Absolutely, but the goals they scored were shockingly poor. I know we had fielded a team of mostly kids, but to let through such soft goals against such a weak opposition should be a serious wake up call.

They finished 14 places below us on the football pyramid, hardly the dog & duck.
