..I would say yes for Sylla and NO for Smyth.........
I can understand the logic in both being allowed to leave on loan.

Smyth deserves and needs to be playing week in, week out somewhere. If Pompey offer him that opportunity I think it’s beneficial to club and player.

Sylla was down the pecking order before Wells & Hamed arrived, and he doesn’t strike me as the type to knuckle down and try to win his place back.

But I thought the Manning loan was ridiculous, and letting either join Championship club’s would be equally as stupid IMO.

Pro Soccer Talk understands that U.S. national team star Geoff Cameron is close to sealing a loan move to Queens Park Rangers in England’s second-tier. With the summer transfer window for clubs outside of the Premier League in England closing this Friday, Aug. 31, the Stoke defender has been mulling over plenty of options in recent weeks.

Cameron, 33, is travelling to London on Thursday for a medical and will sign at QPR until January on loan. Per a source, it is believed Cameron will be able to leave Stoke permanently in January if a deal is arranged between now and then. La Liga clubs were interested in signing Cameron right up until the transfer deadline by rules over the number of non-EU players per squad hampered any move to Spain’s top-flight, for now.

Teams from Major League Soccer, Spain and elsewhere in Europe remain interested in Cameron but a loan move for the next few months is the best situation for him to play regularly. Cameron hasn’t played for Stoke this season under new manager Gary Rowett after making it clear he’d like to move on following their relegation from the Premier League.

The former Houston Dynamo man, who joined Stoke in 2012, will offer QPR boss SMc plenty of experience and options in both midfield and defense with his versatility.

QPR currently sit third from bottom in the Championship with three points from their opening five games. If he signs in time Cameron will be available to make his QPR debut at Birmingham City on Saturday.

Why not? If that's how you see it, neither is the next paragraph.

Eh? We loan him till Jan then have the option of signing him on a free if he's decent. Makes sense?

Does the transfer embargo not affect free transfers ? Cameron is said to be reluctant to head the ball because of previous head injuries. Great. If he can hold out 'til January, Charlie Fox will be back from his loan spell and may be in contention for the CB spot.

I'd assumed they would want a fee for him otherwise why not let him go this window

Dave Mc thinks Washington to Sheffield United on a season long loan might be happening.

Right through to when his contract expires... What a terrible piece of business he’s turned out to be.

Well the management at Sheffield United have seen as much of him if not more than us and can see potential. It is not as if they are scratching around for loan signings like us. If this goes ahead will be interesting to see if his goal scoring record improves with different coaching.
