Opens the door for Ilias Chair if he goes so win, win.
Yes but I think more probably Smyth would replace him in the current set up.
It's not really Smyths best position though is it?
I think Eze will be occupying the central role, with Smyth wide. The one silver lining would be a more balanced midfield but it's hard not to be very concerned about losing Freeman. Again, i admire the confidence in the youth set-up but it would be a huge assumption that any of them can match Freeman's contribution since he's been with us, let alone Chair. Who we've seen very little of in competitive football.

There's more to this than FFP.
I shall remind you of Don Gibbons excellent post from the 4th when I suggested that behind the scenes we were still operating as a club in the Premier League.

At the recent friendly fixture at AFC Wimbledon, I counted:

* 18 QPR players (fair enough)
* 10 non-playing staff around the bench
* 6 non-playing staff in the elevated camera gantry
* 1 luxury coach & driver (who spent 4 hours in the car park)

So a grand total of 35 (support) staff for a friendly.

The finance data bear out the excesses. In the last reported Financial year, the club had gate receipts of £5.2million & administration expenses of £10.7million. So even before paying any of the players, the club has a massive black hole.
Without knowing what these peoples roles are it's impossible to know the value, it's a large operation. I suspect most aren't impacting what we have to spend to the extent it's hampering us in the transfer market. We have to run a professional operation. Nothing about Hoos makes me think he likes profligate spending.

Yes but Satch you have to cut your cloth accordingly. There is little point bemoaning the Profitability and Sustainability Rules when, potentially, selling your best player when you haven't tried to cut costs elsewhere within the club.

Which would you prefer a superbly run club in Division One or a poorly run club in The Championship?

Thank you DG, I found it!

The latter obviously (unless the former leads to a well run club in the PL)

But the point is how much is any of that impacting our bottom line. We can all those cuts - have a poorly run club and still be no better off in the transfer market. Paying the coach drive for four hours isn't why we're selling Luke Freeman. Who from the list of staff above should we cut?

You advocate getting rid of Ferdinand, that fails to acknowledge the role he has in bringing in players we can actually use and profit from. I fear we're advocating for false economies.

....and to feckin BLACKBURN :?
What's so wrong with Blackburn????? :?
Hmmm... Venkys of course, and will be one of the teams we would need to finish above this season.
Not so sure, but that's the beauty of the Championship isn't it...very unpredictable, unlike the overrated Premier League.
Nothing can be can taken for granted this early in the season. As an example, the season before Huddersfield went up, they really struggled against the drop I believe. No one at this stage can be deemed relegation or indeed promotion contenders...exciting isn't it!! 8)

Gary Gardner went from AV to Birmingham, on loan.
It's simple. Score more goals than they do.

Quite so, Giorgio.
At our level, that sort of thing can be a bigger issue for a player than many people think.

I see Lee Hoos has said not buying anyone was actually part of our cunning plan.

The Loan markets is where our salvation lies.

On the offish.
