CDs for Saturday

Post by dm » Fri Apr 20, 2018 7:31 am

No, not music - central defenders. Any dotorgers that can play at CD, bring your boots and shinpads tomorrow. Baptiste and Robinson unlikely to play: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/ba ... brentford/

Kakay, Phillips or Paul? or possibly Hamalainen?

Bidwell then play either Hamalainen or possibly Manning at LB. Either Manning or Wszolek to play left midfield for extra cover on that flank.

As an option, can Furlong play CB?

He would seem a good fit at CB under normal circumstances. He's physically strong and good in the air, although those qualities may be less important tomorrow, given the way Brentford play.

Furlong and Bidwell as left right back...then throw in the two centres backs from the Unders 23's....otherwise what's the point ?
Granted, it's Brentford and we want to win...If Perch is fit then play he alongside one youngster in first half and the other in the second.

This way..we can at least see if they are worth keeping.

Don't see point of putting midfielders as a make shift defender( Just my opinion)

I bet at least one of Robinson & Baptiste plays - feels a bit like Ollie mind games here.

But if one orboth miss out, hasn't Holloway been talking about given Perch some game time?

Perch is leaving at the end of the season. I can't see what purpose would be served by giving him game time ahead of someone who might play a part next season.

Personally, I couldn't give a monkey's armpit.

I would play the youngsters, who might be here next year.

However...

Ollie wanted to give Perch/Mackie send off.
Brentford still in play offs - if I supported another team in playoff position...might be a bit annoyed if we played youngsters.

Like I said - I would play our Under 23 centre pairing. Not Manning at left back or Pavel at Right back... :D

Smith at CB? Not a great tackler but would win everything in the air.

Furlong at centre back. He's excellent in the air and has the pace. Then Kakay at right back. Problem is I don't think Furlong has been tried at centre back.

Can't tackle and can't really move, might as well not bother as i suspect Brentford might have the nouse not to play the ball long to someone in his vicinity.

He did play well. In the last few months Furlong has really cemented his place in the first team squad and will now provide very useful cover at CB if needed. At 22 he's only going to get better. Well done Darnell.

Interesting how differently people see the game. I'm a big fan of Furlong's and would like to have seen him play all season, but i thought he looked very much a RB at CB (which is fair enough). I wouldn't want to see him having to reprise the role too often.
